Hello all, I have been a "lurker" for some time, and finally thought I would come out of the dark so to speak.

Wondered if anyone else has experienced a sharp pain which lasts only a second or two internally like its the cervix or certainly high in the vaginal area, feels like waters are breaking type sensation but nothing happens... its weird and keeps happening perhaps a couple of times an hour, then nothing for a day or so.

Anyone else had this..

baby is most likely moving down and pressing on you and wriggling.....sounds like engaging, or engaging further

if accompanied by blood or fluid loss, call the midwife......

fuzzyduck is this your first? I'm 36 weeks, haven't had sharp stabbing pains... that usually means labour for me
Have you been told if the babys head is engaged?

On the Due in Deb thread ( on which you are welcome to join us) These are known as KNUFs Knitting Needle Up Fanny pains and lots of us have been having them.

Thanks for all your replies.. I just had pick up boys from Nursery and drive home from work so sorry for taking ages to reply again.

This is my third, DC aged 3 and 4, don't remember having any of these pains before, although the KNUF is very accurate so must be that... does anyone know if thats a sign labour is round the corner.. I really hope it is..

When I was last checked out I was 3/5 palp..

Getting really impatient now, still got another 2 weeks left as well.

Lulumama - baby engaging?? Eeeek - I'm not even 33 weeks yet so I hope not. Also, she is still breech. But my waters started leaking at 30 weeks last time so maybe I'd better pack my bag ...

engaging does not mean labour is about to start!mine both engaged 7 or so weeks before they arrived...!

also, get various groin/ SPD type pains and ligaments pains as everything stretches and moves

don;t worry too much..all these odd pains are often nothing to worry about, just part and parcel of pregnancy !

if your waters went early last time, worth keeping an eye on things xx

I think I'm getting an early C/S anyway, because I had an abruption at 38w last time and I really can't face those last few weeks of worrying if it is happening again, fearing that the baby is moving less - you can imagine.

I'm seeing the consultant and having a scan on Tuesday so hopefully will know more then. But I assume that breech is no problem if I do have a c/s?

Thanks Lulu!
