3/5 engaged at 29 weeks - how long has your baby been engaged?!

Ok so baby's head has been down for approx 4 weeks (it's my first baby) and during week 27ish it dropped in to the pelvis and has definitely remained there (I'm 29 weeks today). MW has put 3/5 engaged on notes, and didn't seem concerned about the position so I'm trying to follow suit and not worry about it.

However, I'm just a teeny bit curious as to how long others have been in this position or how long did your babies spend in "engaged" mode before making an appearance? Smile

My friends baby was engaged from about 29-30 weeks and he didn't make an appearance till 39+4, sorry to be the bringer of bad news but babies can stay engaged for a while! But you never know! Smile
I'm currently 35 weeks and baby has been engaged since I was 29 weeks so I'm hoping my friends baby was just too cosy in there! Lol

In first pregnancies babies tend to engage early on but they can and do bob in and out. All my babies engaged early but we're late so ime it makes no difference whatsoever.

Mine has been 3/5 engaged since 34 weeks. I'm currently 40+4 so don't worry.

My little one didn't engage until my waters broke. He didn't arrive until 41+4 after I was induced :)

I was 3/5 at 28 weeks now 33 and pretty sure baby is lower down. It's my 4th and I'm at high risk of pre term labour (for different reasons) and the doctors at the prem clinic were not in anyway concerned. I'm still hoping I'll deliver at 38 and not 42 weeks though.

Thanks for your comments. It certainly isn't a comfy position to have the baby so low! After sitting at my desk for a while it's a bit of a shock standing up and walking waddling Grin

My DD was head down from 21 weeks, engaged from 32 weeks, I popped at 40+5. I was signed off at 32 weeks but that was due to a weak cervix

My baby was never engaged until I was in labour. I had a midwife check on the Wednesday and he was head down but not engaged and he was born (very quickly) on the Friday! My mw said it's fairly common and some people are engaged for weeks and nothing happens whilst others like me only engage during labour.

Oh and DS was born at 38 weeks, not sure if that's relevant

It's comforting to know that I'm not necessarily headed towards early labour. It's going to be a long 11 weeks wait though!!

Baby's can engage and unengage too. Sometimes they have a trial run and turn back around and then go back a little later on!

3/5 means 3/5 (60%) palpable I.e 40% of it is in the pelvis. So being 3/5 at 29 weeks is no big deal.
