How much vomiting is normal?

So, I only found out I was pregnant on Monday. Im a little over five weeks. Yesterday I felt sick all morning but no actual throwing up...

Today I have vomited approx every half an hour. Work sent me home (unsurprisingly)

Feeling very sorry for myself :(

I can't exactly sympathise as I didn't experience sickness in pregnancy, but every half an hour sounds quite a lot, might be worth visiting your doctor in case you have hyperemesis, sip fluids as much as possible to try and avoid dehydration. Hope it eases up and is just a bad day

I was sick roughly 10-20x a day for nine months.

You need to keep a very close eye on yourself. Can you keep down fluids? A little food? If you can't keep fluids down you MUST seek medical attention.
Hopefully you're just going to have a couple of weeks of barfing but if you are feeling bad/getting dehydrated you must, must, must see your doc.

I'm one year postpartum and still suffering food aversions and nausea. Don't suffer in silence.

Ditto the above, as long as you can keep water down - even if just a few drops on tongue every 10-15 mins, then just crack on.

At my worst around 14 weeks I was sick every 15-20 mins from 7.30am - 8pm! I finally stopped managing anything and ended up in hospital on a drip.

It sucked, but thankfully long gone now at 38 weeks x

The pattern seems to be that I vomit, feel ravenous so eat a slice of dry toast or some mashed potato then sip water for 30 mins or so... then vomit and nigh the cycle again. I tried not eating which made me vomit an hour or so later but then it was just bile. If I feel like this tomorrow I'll go see a doctor.

Thanks :)

The NICE guidelines reccomend early anti-emetics - go and see your GP tomorrow and discuss options, vomiting that often isn't pleasant and it isn't 'normal'. Particularly not so early on. Don't be afraid of taking drugs and pop over to the Hypermesis support thread they will be able to help (and they won't care that you haven't had a diagnosis yet!)

Sick after everything I ate and drank for first 4.5 months. Lost 2 stone in weight. Then had 2 weeks of feeling fantastic then 4.5 months of chronic heartburn.

Don't not eat. That makes your blood sugar drop and you feel worse.

I loathe Coke but my mw suggested a pint of it flat, drunk a teaspoon at a time. Or the rehydration tablets (check with the pharmacy that they are OK for pregnancy.)

It's difficult to say where morning sickness stops being normal. Mine certainly wasn't - it was constant for nine months. I'd wake myself in the night mid puke. I had to take work calls lying in my office floor. awful time...

That is not normal pregnancy sickness. Go to the GP, early intervention is more effective.
