Heavy bleeding in early pregnancy.

I started bleeding yesterday at 6+1, heavy fresh period like blood. It continued until last night but seems to have stopped this morning. I'm convinced I've miscarried.

Has anyone experienced this and still had a pregnancy continue?

Also how long will it take after a miscarriage for pregnancy symptoms to go away?

Try not to worry. I bled in both of my pregnancies and everything was fine, sometime you can get 'settling bleeds'
I have also suffered a miscarriage and had no bleeding in the initial stages. Do you have the number for your local early preg unit? If not get to the doctor.
In answer to your question I was told around 4 weeks for symptoms to go.
Fingers crossed for you that everything is ok

I would contact your GP- there is no definite answer to these questions. It could take a while for symptoms to go away. You could do pregnancy tests till you get a negative result. The GP or EPU might be able to help.
And yes, people do have pregnancies continue with heavy bleeds but I don't want to offer false hope if this isn't to be. Having been there, you have my greatest sympathies and good wishes.

I bled heavily non stop for three weeks in the first tri. It was a haematoma and the baby hung on. Can you self refer to your local epu?

I'm booked in for a scan this afternoon but was trying to work out if it's worth going. I had a previous miscarriage a long time ago and the bleeding took longer than a day to stop so that gives me a teeny bit of hope. Thank you for all your replies. Smile

I'm in a similar situation - had some bleeding in the night when I went to the toilet. I'm 7+4. Just waiting for the gp to open. I haven't been booked in with the midwife yet so don't know what else to do. I've not gone to work and don't know what reason to give for my absence.

Mine happened at work so I explained to my boss and she was lovely and let me go. It's just so horrible, yesterday I was convinced I was miscarrying, but it seems to have stopped so no idea what to think.

Hope it went well at your scans today. I had a very similar situation when I was first pregnant. It was ok x

It's good to get it checked out but I had similar with my first. He's now taller than me so that pregnancy certainly was fine!

I've started another thread about my situation - I've had no more bleeding but because they can't be certain about how pregnant I am it's not clear whether it's too early to see much or the pregnancy has stopped. The sac has grown in the last week but what's inside is tiny. Sad
