DId your bump size differ in each pregnancy?

Idle curiousity really

I am sure (in fact I know for a fact) that I was bigger at this stage with ds (my third) than I am now with my fourth. I carried him very low and all at the front - my bump was enormous by the end but you couldn't really tell I was pg from the back IYSWIM.

This bump is neater and I am carrying much higher - which I think is a little strange because I thought it was all to do with stomach muscles (or lack of) and I certainly haven't been working on them!!

i was bigger with ds, my first than i was with dd, my second. He was a little heavier but only five ounces. Maybe supporting the boys are bigger, lower bumps theory???

Possibly! My first two were dds and I carried them much higher (though again I was slim from the back).

I have always poo-pooed that theory too!

I carried each of my four differently and with the third (my DS) was the size of a small conurbation.... ! Good luck with yr 4th pg, have you got much longer to go? (sorry if every1 else knows...I'm v new to MN

that's alright Dragonfairy, I don't really expect everyone to remember!!! I am only 16 weeks so plenty of time for things to change , but I was looking at when I went into maternity clothes last time round and it was much earlier. However I was much sicker this time round so may have lost more weight in the first trimester.

Lol at small conurbation!!

massive with DS1 & DS2 (showing from all angles by 15 weeks)

average with DD (am 25 weeks now - wasn't showing until about 20 weeks, although it's popped out nicely now).

The girl pregnancy is a bit more football like. The boy pregnancies were just more houselike.

Hmmm interesting. My bump is still of the size that you can only see if I'm not wearing anything - I don't look pg at all yet. Wonder if it's another girl then?

was twice the size with ds that i was with dd but had gallons of water.... by the time i started pushing i'd spewed so much water everywhere that my bump was half the size it had been 2 hour previously!

both mine were quite neat bumps but ds was that bit wider.... but that might have been the positon he was in, he was lying with his legs half stretched out and knees splayed on to each side.... little bugger!

i was massive with ds. and he was a wee small baby.

37 wks pg with no 2 and very different this time. much much neater. and much more uncomfortable - thinking that because i'm 'neater' baby is closer into me and interferring more with all my insides.

(funny how i've managed to have a good whinge on all the threads i've posted on this morning! )

Pregnancy No 1 I had no sign of a bump at 30 weeks - this one popped out at 10 weeks....never did get back in shape...

i am having my first baby and my bump at 36 weeks looks like a little football, it is at its biggest at my bellybutton. still waiting for him to drop though. but usually your second is bigger i think as your tummy muscles are not as tight as before. i guess it also depends on whether you exercise between pregnancies to strengthen the ab muscles.

ds1 was pretty big and houselike but ds2 was ENORMOUS. Both were out the front though.

tiny with dd1 - 6lb 1/2 oz

huge with dd2 - 9lb 7oz

even bigger again with no3 - no idea will let you know in Mar when I have no3.

Mine have all been only visible from the side, high "boy" bumps. 1 DS, 2 DDs, all about 8lbs & all trannies.

pretty normal with DS1 (8LB 3OZ) but was never a "neat" bump

Absolutly staggeringly hilariously humungous with DD1 (10LB 8OZ !) The MW used to laugh when she saw me and the consultant sent me for monitoring (at the end i was measuring 45 inches ..was told it should be one inch for each week up to 38 weeks then it should stop growing as growth slows down !!)

Incidently DS 1 labour was 38 hrs, DD1 labour was 2 hrs .. only just made it to hospital in time (from 1st contraction to popping out)

i looked exactly the same with all of mine,apart from the fourth when i was a little bigger near the end.i put the same amount of weight on with each pg. but somehow, the fourth one was quite a bit bigger than the rest, people were surprised at her size compared to the others

Fairly huge with both DDs. DD1 7 lb 12 oz. DD2 9lb 9 oz and I did look bigger 2nd time round. Had to go into maternity clothes much earlier. At only 5 months pg with DD2 a woman said "not long to go now then" to me . Couldn't bear to say "actually another 4 months" to her.
Would love to have dc3 but worry that another one would be even bigger. Anyone else's dcs get that much bigger (nearly 2lbs)?

my first [ds] was 8 lb 13 and i was small.. the midwife kept asking if i was eating..and he came out loking like a rugby player ..all big boned and i was small yet my dd was 7 lb 13 and i was huge with her and constantly ravenous and grew quickly early on but now im almost 15 weeks and hardly show and can stil get into one pair of jeans and have hardly put any weight on yet at my nuchal scan they said the baby was big fo rdates..but we know theyre accurate ..baby is on 95 th centile!! so im wondering what im having this time? my gut instinct says girl but well have to see...it goes to show that size of bump has nothing to do with size of baby

My DS1 was 6lb8ozs and bump was MASSIVE,DD was 7lb4ozs think my bum was more pregnant!,I thought I was neat from the front but the back... and DS2 was 9lb9ozs and I wasn't "showing" 'til about 30weeks.
So all completley different.

Thanks for the comments guys, makes interesting reading. I saw my midwife yesterday and she was surprised at how "small" my bump was - she expected it to be bigger by now! Not just my imagination then! Am not worried though - nice strong heartbeat and feeling lots of little movements

Hi Miaou. I1st bump was huge but I put on lots of weight. with the 3rd I def. looked bigger earlier than I have done with this one. This time I have suddenly sprouted a rather large bump at 17 - 18 wks. 19wks today and I look about 24. I've been really sick this last wk. again so maybe a growth spurt? but I was actually sa stone lighter when this one was conceived, than when I conceived DD1 or 2.
