Is 5lb 13 at 36 weeks big? It seems big to me.

Not really. Especially if you are going by a scan - it's notoriously an unreliable way of predicting. My sil was told her dd was around 6lb and she was 9lb6oz! Likewise people have reported that they were told baby was big and then ended up having a 6lber. Really do not worry x

DS was born at 36wks and was 6lb 9, so I don't think that's especially big?

Not really. They're supposed to gain about 1/2lb a week from here which would make baby just under 8lbs at due date.

Hehe, was estimated 6-7 lb at week 36. Don't worry! :)

I was told baby was 5lb 12oz at 34 weeks, sonographer said baby is measuring bigger than average at that stage, and she's estimated to be a heavy 8lb-9lb at her DD- but you can never be certain with these things.

That's a pretty average weight. The last trimester of pregnancy is when bubs is packing on fat rather than just developing their systems etc. They generally gain half a pound a week on average and slow down in the last couple of weeks so that sounds like a perfectly reasonable weight to me.

Also, if you're going on a growth scan, be aware they advise it can be around 30% out either side Smile

Yes I hope she's not over 8. The thought of pushing out a big baby for my first is so scary lol! As I wasn't a big baby nor was my husband I would be surprised if this one is a chunked lol

It'll be ok. No need to be scared! First labours can last a while so there'll be plenty of time for your body to prepare.

It's the head that's the difficult part to get out and head size will be the same(ish) whether the baby is 7lbs or 9lbs.

My two dc were 8lbs 3 and 8lbs 9 and I had an easier birth x 100 with the 8lb 9 one!

That's so true about the head circumference. My DD was 4lbs 13 and her head was 33.5cms. My friend's baby was almost 9lbs and the head was 36cm, surprisingly not much bigger.

I'm 6lbs 2oz at 36 weeks and right in the middle of what the weight should be.

I had a scan last week at 34+5 and they estimated 6lb5

I had a scan less than 10 hours before I had my DS and they said 6lb7 and he was born that day at 7lb13 so take it with a pinch of salt!

I had a growth scan at 35+5 and they said baby is 6lb1 and that hes on the middle line of the chart which is average. Dont worry about the weight its just an estimate.

Try not to worry too much. My first was 5lb at 38 weeks and I had a second degree tear. Second was a whopper at 8lb 6oz and I only had a graze.
