Scared my baby?

sorry this is a daft question but this morning my baby wasn't moving at all when he usually does. So I kind of put my hands on the side of my belly and pushed in a little tiny bit, then baby did a massive jolt, kicked me and and started hiccuping! I feel terrible I scared him! Do you think I hurt him? I get scared if he doesn't move when I wake up which is silly because he was obviously asleep :(

you probably just woke him up with a scare, monitor his movements for the rest of the day and if you're still really worried call 111 or your midwife but they'll probably just tell you it's nothing X

Thanks ScarlettB he is moving as normal thankfully I think you're right I did make him jump :(

Mine does this if there's a loud noise (cupboard door bangs shut, cutlery clatters on dishes, dog barks, etc). Poor wee thing will just need to get used to it!

Aww, bless, I wouldn't worry, I think he just got a bit startled! Don't feel bad, you wouldn't have hurt him, he's all cosy and protected in there! Same as malin100, I feel him jolting when there's loud noises, especially when I'm over my Mum and Dad's and the dogs are barking! Just reacting. If he's moving as normal I really wouldn't worry, but any changes or if you ever feel a bit worried something isn't right, just ring midwife x

I wouldn't worry.

My son did an entire backflip in my stomach once (it felt like that anyway) in the middle of the night once when our next door neighbour slammed his front door.

My heart was pounding!

How far along are you? I'm guessing not far enough to have had the midwife squeezing and pushing on your tummy to try and work out baby's position. When you get to that bit you'll realise there's no way your tiny push would have hurt him. They are very cushioned in there so don't worry at all

My little one is the same with loud noises - she especially dislikes sirens and would go ape for a few minutes after an ambulance goes past.

But all babies are different if you are still concerned please follow your instincts and call your midwife so if there's anything to worry about they will check on baby to make sure all is okay.

Do not worry. He was responding to you. My bump does this to me all of the time. I prod, she kicks. It's lovely.

Your baby is incredibly well cushioned in there. About 5 or 6 months pg I tripped out the back door and fell. I was holding a washing basket so didn't manage to save myself properly and bump did make contact with the ground. I was so scared. Of course I got it checked out. She's 6 now!
(Not to say I recommend falling over! Just pointing out how your body protects your unborn baby!)
