Sharp pain in abdomen

Hello all,

I'm 20+2 weeks today. I went to bend over to pick up my dogs toy to throw it for her and whilst I was bending over I had a really sharp pain on my left hand side of my abdomen above my hip. It went fairly quickly but I still feel a bit uncomfortable.
Currently lying down and I can feel baby kick so that's a huge relief.

I have my 20 week scan on Friday (two days time!) and I just wanted to know if I should be worried about the pain and maybe mention something to the doctor or is this completely normal?

Thanks ladies x

It sounds like round ligament pain- basically the ligaments in your abdomen stretch as you get bigger, and sudden movements can cause very sharp pains.

So it's pretty common, not actually dangerous (to you or to baby) but likely to carry on and be painful!

It helps if you draw in your abdominal muscles before making sudden moves - you'll soon get in to the habit.

You could mention it to dr if you'd like some reassurance but I wouldn't worry.
