Hi, guys, I've decided to have a baby shower in the next few weeks, thought it might be quite nice to have a little get together before baby arrives and was just thinking of games and things to do. Any suggestions? Thank you! X

for my shower I had about 20 of closest friends (hubby's too not just the girls) for a cream tea at a local hotel, it was lush and we all sat around for hours eating cake Grin it was low key and didn't cost a fortune and we all got a chance to catch up.

We only did one game and that was guess the date, my friend printed a calendar for due date month and everyone picked a day and weight etc..... winner got a bag of sweeties, it was fun actually to cross off the days whilst waiting for baby to arrive. it was a lovely day.

Who are you throwing the shower for?

What sort of things does she like? Does she actually like silly games? Because as host, I think your most important role is to ensure the honouree is going to be comfortable with the event.

I just had an afternoon tea at home with my closest friends, did it as a get together rather than a shower and I made a cake for it. It was lovely, we didn't have games but a few friends have had then. One got fabric pens and plain vests and got each guest to do a personalised vest for the baby, just as a silly keepsake.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson I think OP is talking about her own baby shower. I organised my own 'shower' at home, and a close friend of mine set up a Facebook event and invited people for me, but I didn't call it baby shower as I didn't want it to be a "give me lots of gifts" party, I just wanted to have a nice tea party where I would get to see all my friends and family one last time before life changed forever. It was great as after having a baby you are often far too distracted to have proper conversations with other adults for a good few months! I think we called it a 'baby bump tea party' or something silly like that.

We played quite a few games actually...

  1. Asked everyone attending to secretly bring one of their own baby photos and put it in a box when they came in. Then we played a guessing game who each baby grew up to be. It was a really good icebreaker as not everyone knew eachother.
  2. Pin the sperm on the ovaries...
  3. Baby trivia pub quiz: match the celebrity to their baby photo, and multiple choice questions - stuff like guess the top 3 baby names of that year, how heavy was the heaviest baby ever born, etc.
  4. A pretty inappropriate one with loads of cropped photos of women's faces, and you had to guess which ones were in labour and which ones were porn Grin So wrong, but so funny.
  5. We got everyone to write down their best guess for my baby's weight and birthday before they left. Obviously you dont get to find out who the winner is until the baby actually arrives.

We did boxes of chocolates and big chocolate bars for prizes. Everyone seemed to have a really nice time Smile

Sorry I should have said, it's my baby shower, my Mum and I will organize it as my Mum has no idea what to do, and I've only ever been to one! Absolutely loving the ideas, everyone, thank you, I'm feeling really excited about it, AllPowerfulLizardPerson that's exactly the kind of thing I want, a bit of fun/sillyness before baby comes! 😂 Prizes for the winners is a brilliant idea, should be fun as I have a few friends that can get very competitive with that kind of thing (in a good way!) Nice to have a bit of a laugh with my nearest and dearest, it'll be the last time we have a proper catch up before all the craziness! Thank you so much, everyone! Grin x

Guess the date
Guess the weight
I've been to one where we were all given plain white vests and special pens for clothes and we all decorated a vest for the baby...and she wore them when she was born! That was sweet and some people could show off their creativity and others could just write funny phrases or sentiments.
