23 weeks, getting it as soon as they "come out" in my town.

Need to know.... hmm... It's pretty straightforward, you roll up your sleeve, they inject, your arm is a bit sore for a while.

I was thinking about this earlier. I haven't had flu for years and know a handful of people who've been offered it due to asthma or other conditions (not pregnancy) who got quite ill after the flu jab so I'm not sure I want it.

Do they offer it because flu is much more dangerous if you get it when you're pregnant? Would I be stupid to turn it down?

I said something about that to the nurse practitioner (doesn't it just make you ill?) and she said "oh no, it's not that. It's because we offer it quite late in the cold and flu season, so you might already have a cold... and then you associate your symptoms with the vaccine"

Flu is way more dangerous when you are pregnant. Your immune system is being actively suppressed so you don't attack the baby. Flu is no joke at the best of times, even with a decent immune response.

Got mine yesterday at 5 wks as GP asked if I wanted it while I was there. Today the injection site is a little red and swolen and a bit sore to touch but I feel fine. Will get whoopping cough at 28 wks.

I'm 15weeks and booked in for my flu and whooping cough in 2weeks. I've always got the flu jab during pregnancy and I haven't felt unwell etc after getting it. Personally I'd rather not take the risk of not getting it but I do know people who have refused it.

I've decided to get it... You're absolutely right and I was being stupid. Haven't done this before.

I'm 6 + 6 today. I have an appointment with the nurse about something else in 2 weeks. Is it worth asking the receptionist if they'll tag the flu jab on to that?

Yes..am a front line NHS employee so will get flu jab on Monday. Strongly recommend that everyone be vaccinated if at all possible.

No, I'm not having the flu jab. I'm nearly 34 weeks so I'll have had the baby by the time flu season kicks off properly. I had the whooping cough jab at 22 weeks.

Had my flu jab this morning and feel fine so far. Only ever had it once before at uni in USA where it was mandatory and I was so ill afterwards that I'm a little anxious that next week I'll be in a rough state!

Nurse said they do whooping cough jabs earlier now so I'd be having one at 20 weeks. Doesn't really make a difference when I get it as long as I do :)

Fingers crossed for good health for mummies and babies.

I have the flu jab every year as my work gives us vouchers for a free one anyway so I just think why not? And I've never been ill from it. I'm currently suffering bad enough as it is with an awful cold so definately wouldn't want the flu while pregnant.

I'm 17 weeks and had my flu jab yesterday. Apart from my arm feeling a little bruised, I'm fine! Nurse did say there's a chance of feeling rough with cold like symptoms for a couple of days but said that could happen with any immunisation jab.

I had flu and whooping cough yesterday and have to say all night I felt as rough as anything. High temp, very sore arms, muscle aches and pains I have had to resort to paracetamol and feel guilty for that!!
