Anyone else with internal bruising?

I have a very sore bump and was told last week by a midwife that it is internal bruising in the area where my baby's legs are kicking (a large area to the right of my belly button). She told me to take arnica. Last night it was so painful that I didn't sleep at all despite taking three cocodamol tablets. I called the hospital this morning for advice and they said they didn't need to see me as I am not passing blood but to go to GP tomorrow to manage this painkiller use.

Has anyone else got this? I'm 34 weeks and wondered if baby slows down the kicking soon so I can expect to heal? What are you taking to help? Thanks for any advice.

Hiya

Yes I've had this - first with my DD from about 36 weeks, same place as you and internal bruising. This time round its been in the same place again but it isn't as constant as with my DD. Unfortunately there's no magic fix as the little unborn cherubs are getting comfy in there but you can take paracetamol and try and take the weight off your bump by lying on your left side. The feet will move/slide off the bruised area for a bit of relief.

I'm 40 weeks now with DS and it't not fun especially with extra bruising but try and remember it's only whilst they're in there. Arnica is always good too.

If you get worried though as the antenatal unit for more advice, I had a couple of extra scan's late on with DD just to check everything was ok and it was just bruising, all you could see on the scan was her fat feet!!!!!!

I can't advise on bruising but just wanted to say that it's not true at all that babies kicks slow down towards the end of pregnancy. It's one of those myths that lots of people hear but is not true, please just be aware of what's 'normal' for your baby Smile

Hope you feel better soon, internal bruising sounds horrid!

Thank you both. I have been sleeping more on my right side as its more comfortable. I know this isn't the best side to sleep on, I will try to sleep on my left side. I've got a blooming crick in my neck on my left side the past few days so hurts to sleep on it! Great!

I had some bruising just where you describe. It stopped being so painful when the baby got too big to manoeuvre and stuck to wriggling more than kicking. It gets better!

Definitely second the use of Arnica, it's also recommended that you take his when in labour and the days afterwards to help with healing. Good luck

if you are taking that many painkillers, I would get it checked out.
The hospital don't know whether they need to see you or not, they haven't seen you? I would ask for a scan if you are in pain. Good luck.
