Low salt dry snacks for gestational hypertension

Hi All!

In need of some snack ideas. Due to the likelihood of being readmitted, I'm preparing a hospital bag of essentials to leave in car as we live the other side of the city to the hospital, so it saves my husband from driving an extra couple of hours if i am. (I have to go to a lot of appointments!)

The food at the hospital is not tailored well to a non normal diet and last time I was told it was eat what they have or don't eat. I don't eat fish or dairy and rarely eat meat. Whilst vegan options are available, they have to be ordered and if no one comes to you with a menu, they won't order it later. My lunch was essentially dry bread that I'd had to remove the cheese from. It was that or nothing.

So I'm looking for dried snacks I can keep in the bag so I have something to eat until husband can bring something in at visiting times. The only catch is they must have little or no salt due to my BP bring crazy high. I can't have nuts, so struggling to find anything.

Help!

Thanks!

Unsalted rice cakes? Could you take some carrot sticks? Plain popcorn (could make your own at home and just not put any seasoning on it?

Also, plain breadsticks are fairly low salt. What about dried fruit? Or even fresh fruit.

Cereal bars or packaged flapjacks? I think these have a fairly long shelf life. Tinned fruit salads - cans with a ring pull for easy opening!

Porridge pots might be good.

Water crackers? I love munching on them when a bit snacky. They have a nicer crunch than cream crackers.
