Some advice on buying nursing bras please ladies...

Hi ladies...

So I am 30 weeks pregnant and starting to think about buying things for/packing my hospital bag.
Question is, when is the best time to buy nursing bras?? As I know I will grow when my milk comes in after giving birth.
And also, where is the best place you have found for accurate measuring? As I've heard some places really aren't very good.

debenhams are good for measuring. I bought some nursing bras from
Primark £7 for a pack of 2. I bought some a few weeks before giving birth and then bought a few more a couple of weeks after giving birth once my milk had come in (2 from primark and 2 from debenhams). I would advise getting a couple in a cup size bigger than you are measuring when you are about 36 weeks pregnant because you will need some bras in the early days and you won't want to go bra shopping for a couple of weeks at least.
Make sure you get a couple of comfy sleep bras too - like nursing crop tops. You will be okay buying these before giving birth as they are very stretchy and don't really have a cup size.

I got measured in the third trimester and bought a couple of bras. I didn't find they got that much bigger when the milk came in. Not as much as a whole cup size.
I then got remeasured as I lost weight after the birth.

I have found debenhams to be very reliable and feel the bras fit well. I also bought from mothercare but never got measured there.

I got a pack of 2 from m and s, got measured when I was 3 days post baby and my milk had come in. Lovely comfy bras but a bit expensive. However I feel it is worth it to get the right bra.

First time I got cupsize up and got given some from a friend who decided late in pregnancy that she didn't want to breastfeed. They all didn't fit properly. So last time I got a few t-shirt/sleep ones from mothercare. They came in xs -xxl rather than cup size. When my milk came and I was established I got ones that fitted properly. Kept the night ones too as they were super comfortable. I went to local bra shop at 38 weeks. Think they advise after 36 or 37 to get measured. I went for Hot Milk ones as I had them last time and found them so comfy. Very expensive but I already have large size so I know I can't get anything from cheap shops.

I got some comfy stretchy ones to wear initially then went when DD was born to get measured properly. My boobs were massive when my milk came in and stayed huge for about 6 weeks. Normally I'm a 32 D and I needed a 32 G!

Sounds like maybe Debenhams are good for measuring, I've not heard good things about mothercare...not sure if that is true or not.
So maybe getting a couple of cheap ones is a good idea late pregnancy and then get measured properly when milk comes in after?
Have so many questions being a first time mum

I got some sleep bras from JoJo maman Bebe, they were great before and after birth and were stretchy enough to be good when my milk came in

Agree with previous opinions. I had a couple of Carriwell stretchy style ones for when baby first arrived, then off to Debenhams for a proper measure and better bras once my milk was established. The service in Debenhams was brilliant - they considered where I was in terms of having just fed baby or being due a feed soon, plus I could go back and swap for a different size if I found them uncomfortable after wearing them. Also had a decent range of nursing bras at fairly reasonable prices.

I got measured at 37/38 weeks last time and ended up taking the bras back after DD was born because the fit was all wrong. I wore sleep bras from Mothercare for the first few weeks until my supply settled down, then went out and bought proper nursing bras from Bravissimo.

Mothercare sleep bras were great till my supply settled at about 10 weeks then I got proper nursing bras.

Oh also, when I got measured after my milk settled I went on the figleaves website outlet section and got some lovely nursing bras reduced to ten pounds including hot milk ones.

I just measured myself and ordered online, I didn't want to leave the house and certainly couldn't face going into town to try on bras!

For the first few days I wore nursing vests with support so I didn't need bras.

Bravado silk are your friend! Soft stretchy but remarkable supportive and don't look horrendous under clothes. Then get measured once everything has settled down. I spent loads on other nursing bras that hardly got used as I ended up having to stop BF after 4 weeks, which I haft anticipated.

I am 34 weeks and have been really struggling with the bras I bought towards middle/end of second trimester as I just keep growing! My pre-pregnancy size was a 28E and I have been wearing 30FF/32F after being fitted at Bravissimo at around week 23 but am finding the bands too tight now.
I haven't been for a nursing bra fitting yet (was trying to hold out until 37/38 weeks) but was told that when buying nursing bras to go for a bra which fits well on the loosest hook as ribcage will contract after delivery. Instead of having a fitting in a few weeks, I have just bought a few stretchy nursing bras that come in S/M/L that are comfortable on the looser hooks and am hoping that these will see me through till the end and also go in my hospital bag. I will get a proper fitting once milk comes in as I know I will need to spend a bit more as most high street store sizing starts at 34 back.
