Anxious about dog germs

I am 30 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I asked my niece to pass me my glass of water. Her mum told her to wash her hands first as they had just been walking a friends dog. She however, just picked up the glass (with her fingers on the edge) and passed it to me. I stupidly took a sip then thought better of it and threw it away. I don’t know whether she had been picking up dog poo or just touching the dog or what but I am so worried now that I may have caught some bacteria or something that could harm my baby. Should I be worried?

Are you serious? Course your baby will be fine. The baby is very well protected and please don't be one of these mums that never let's their kids get dirty. Kids need germs and muck to build up their immune systems !!

No, you'll be fine.

My DC lick the dog occasionally. I can't say I approve but it's done them no harm.

Lol thanks. I have never owned a dog so I have no idea about them. I'm also super paranoid about hurting my baby!

I'd be more worried about human germs frankly. Your niece might have been to the toilet and not washed her hands (boak). She might be coming down with norovirus (yuk). She might have been picking her nose (ugh). Humans are filthy, don't blame poor old dogs.

There's germs everywhere. Sorry you're being ridiculous (and I know how you feel, I've had panicky moments about things like this before!)

Nope couldn't harm the baby from this definitely not I have a 9 month old that try's licking our dogs too and it has happened a few times I don't like it nor approve as another op has said but these things can't be prevented either I'm 13 weeks pregnant and my baby is fine we have 4 dogs so I wouldn't worry

I'm 23 weeks, own 4 cats 2 dogs and I'm a dog walker so spend my days dealing with dog poo/saliva/sick. My MW thinks it's great and my immune system will be brilliant Grin don't panic.
