How to date my pregnancy

Hi all,

I am just looking for some advice on how many weeks pregnant I would be at the moment.

If I was to go with the first day of my last period(20th July) I would be 6 weeks today. But I know that I ovulate late every month. I do not have a regular 28 day cycle. I had a positive ovulation stick on the 13th August. If I was normal, and had a period 2 weeks before I ovulated, I would be like 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant. This makes more sense for me, knowing when I ovulated, but a doctor would class me as 6 weeks.

The reason why I'm concerned is because I had a miscarriage back in June, and I had a few early scans and there was a lot of worry and confusion about the pregnancy not being as far along as it should be. I knew it wasn't growing properly, but they said I had just ovulated later than I thought, but I knew when I had ovulated etc. So I knew something was wrong.

have any of you been in the same position, where you ovulate late etc?

And I was wondering what other people think I should date my pregnancy as.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for rambling.

Yes, the first day of your last period, even though you hadn't conceived at this time. They will confirm your due date at the 12 week scan, where the measurements of baby will also add up to calculating your due date. When I worked out my due date myself from the first day of last period, I got the 12th of September, but it changed to the 18th after the measurements.
Congratulations, and good luck!

The gp/midwife will give you a due date based on the first day of your last period but this is just an estimation. You'll get your confirmed date at your 12week scan. With my 2nd pg I dated a week behind but they said I probably ovulated late. With this pg my scan also showed I was earlier than what was written in my notes but again it's because I don't have the norm of 28day cycle. They will book you in for your scan based on your first day of period and will go from there Flowers

They will class you as 6 weeks now as they base it on LMP. However it will probably change to be more in line with when you ovulated plus 2 weeks (so 4 weeks 4 days now) at your 12 week scan.
Don't panic if you have early scans that are behind 6 weeks now as it's very likely they will be (based on your ovulation date).

A lot of people suggest telling the doctor you're not sure when your period last started. You could tell them you know you ovulated on X date to they'll just assume 2 weeks prior and use that.

I OV late too, normally 32-34 day cycle, CD20 for OV. I was 3 days earlier the month I conceived (CD17) so thankfully it was only off by 3 days from what they consider "normal" so not a huge deal otherwise I probably would have considered "not remembering" my period date and just going by OV
