Can I request a earlier scan?

Hi all,
I've recently posted about my DD1 being stillborn earlier this year. I'm now nearly 10 weeks into my second scary pregnancy... I know I lost my DD full term and had no issues at the beginning of my pregnancy but I really am getting anxious waiting for my scan as I still have 3 weeks to wait! Any advice ? Thanks ladies xx

You might well be able to get one. I asked for an early one following a missed miscarriage with my previous pregnancy. I got referred by my gp but if you already have an appointment phone and talk to someone in hospital. Flowers for the loss of your daughter and hope everything goes better this time.

Nuchal scans tend to be between 10.5 and 12.5 weeks now I think?

We didn't get ours moved sadly, and I was desperately needing an earlier one (different circumstances) but we rang our nearest private hospital (Bupa or similar) and had one done within 24 hours for around £75. I wanted a fully trained doctor not a private company (again long story) hence going through the private hospital. It helped a lot.

Thank you both for your comments, I'm going to have my bloods done tomorrow at the hospital so I might ask whilst I'm there... It's just to make me less anxious if anything! My last pregnancy I was sick from start to finish, and this time I haven't experienced any sickness which should be the best thing ever to me but it makes me worried that something isn't right..(hope I don't sound silly) I will certainly consider going private if need be, but hoping i won't need to. I might even contact my GP to make them aware of my anxiety. Thank you for your lovely messages xxx

If they refuse could you afford a private scan for reassurance? We got one for £40 and it really put my mind at ease while waiting for the dating scan.

Sorry to hear about your daughter Flowers

My dc1 was stillborn, with dc2 I was given an early scan then 2 weekly scans later on. I am currently pregnant with dc3 and was given another early scan (just for reassurance).

If you explain you are anxious they should offer you one.

Hope you get on ok.

So sorry about your DD.

I'm in Scotland and EPU here have been amazing. Call them directly and they might see you.

I'd clearly express how worried you are, I have a friend who has been in a similar position and the mws and hospital have been amazing. She's had four weekly scans all the way through
