Effectiveness of Morning after pill- HELP!

hannah103 · 22/07/2016 16:02

I've taken the morning after pill before with no side effects after contraception failure. I had to take it after an incident on the 8th, I took it 36 hours after. I finally started my period yesterday 21st.

However how long should it take the side effects to leave? My nipples are soooo sensitive it hurts to touch them. I'm getting back and abdominal pain, I've also gone completely off food.

Anyone got any experience? I can't be pregnant because of the "period" it feels like a real period.

Some women can have a period through out their pregnancy. My only advice is to do a test and put your mind at ease

At 36 hours it's 89% effective. Take a test to put your mind at ease. Sometimes it takes my body a couple days after my period ends to get the message and feel better!

Thank you both ladies, your replies are much appreciated. There seems to be a real lack of information out there on how long side effects last and how to tell it's worked. I will make sure to put the conclusion here. It would be interesting to hear others experience!

Hi Smile I had the morning after pill within 12 hours! A week went by and my boobs were extremely sore!!! I was googling side effects and breast tenderness was a symptom! However, now I am 9+4 pregnant with my first! Big surprise for me lol but yes
Maybe try a test anyways to put your mind at ease.

Hi thanks for your reply and I can imagine that's a suprise! did you have any form of bleeding? I have all the symptoms but more than 10 days after have had what appears " normal period". That's why I'm confused. Will take a pregancy test

No no bleeding, but yes I was confused too as I still thought it was side effects from the pill for atleast 2 weeks, sore boobs, feeling a little nauseous etc but I did wait 4 weeks before I took a test as I still didn't believe I could be pregnant as the pill had never failed on me before
All the best and let us know your conclusion if you like Flowers

Ps I hope I haven't scared you!! Confused

Hi no you haven't I really wanted to know other peoples experiences! I've done a test and it's negative, I'm guessing if I was it would show up as the date was over 2 weeks ago! Worth noting for others side effects can last a long time, I still have tender breasts and nausea:(
