As title says really.. I'm just over 18 weeks. Last 24-48 hours I've been getting the odd painless tightening, they feel a bit weird and uncomfy but not painful. But also short sharp type pains low down in cervix area. Doesn't feel like the usual ligament pain ive been having. Anyone else had something similar? Iv got it in my head worrying about cervical funnelling/dilating. Iv worked myself up, even though I know it's likely fine, but I'm a bit of a worrier. Iv tried to book a private scan but they are shut this week. I have my anomaly scan in 1 week any way but know if there is funnelling they can only do something if it's caught early. Know if I phone the labour ward about t they won't be concerned. Thanks in advance. X

Labour ward may not be concerned, but this is definitely something you could/should call your midwife about if you are concerned. The blood flow around your cervical area will be quite prominent now, so it could be attributed to that.

Do you have any prior issue with cervical dilation/funnelling? I don't know if you've already had a pregnancy/children before from your OP - but if you have, I'm sure your midwife will take it seriously.

(The only reason labour ward wouldn't be btw is because you're 18 weeks - they don't tend to see you unless you are past 22-24w).

I'm a worrier too, so I know how you feel x

I had so much paranoia between weeks 14 through 19 about incompetant cervix, and I had some of the tightenings and cervical stabby pains you're taking about. Was also up at the hospital a few times due to pain and lots of very watery discharge which I had somehow convinced myself was leaking waters Hmm at my 20 weeks scan last week my cervix measured about 3cms with no signs of funnelling so all that worry was for nothing. 22 weeks tomorrow and all is fine Smile
