Moses baskets - probably a stupid question...

How often do you need to change / wash the covers - I mean the hood and the outer cover rather than the sheets / quilt / sleeping bag / bedding? The reason I ask is that the place I bought mine from (Mamas & Papas) doesn't even seem to sell the covers separately... Will I need many changes of cover?

Thanks!

I only washed the liner bit once when my DS1 got sick on it and once when it came out of storage for DS2.. the hood on mine didn't unattach so that never got washed.

I only washed mine when I passed it onto a friend.

The covers never got vommed on and who honestly uses that little round bit of quilt that comes with them?

I used numerous fitted sheets; and put a muslin quark down under the baby's head to save the sheet. Then they were swaddled so the swaddle was washed every other day.

I washed it just before due date as had been stored in plastic packaging and smelt a bit fusty. DS was in it about 4 months, and I probably washed it twice it that time frame due to milk spills/ projectile vomiting.
DS was only in it at night/ or napping while I was upstairs. We used the bassinet section of the pram downstairs to save lugging it round, so may have needed a few extra washes if used more.
The outside bit and hood aren't really necessary, just make it look pretty really, son wouldn't worry about not having spares of you do need to dry it. Just need a mattress and few sheets (normal pillow cases fit moses basket mattresses perfectly btw) and then whatever you're usig for baby i.e. blankets or gro bag
