Heavy bleeding and clots at 11 weeks

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and this morning when I got our if the bath I began bleeding, it was gushing out and I passed two large clots. It was very traumatic and I'm still bleeding now. Soaking every half an hour.

I went to a and e and they took my bloods and send me to the gynae ward, the doctor checked my cervix was closed and they did a scan and baby was there kicking about. I'm shocked, obviously very happy.

She doesn't no why I'm bleeding so much and can't see any reason on scan. Had anyone else had any experience of this?

No experience with this myself, but just wanted to wish you well, I'm glad that your baby is kicking about, and hope that the bleeding stops soon. Flowers

Yes, I had a subchorionic haemorrhage with my second at 12 weeks, it was horrendous. I left a puddle of blood on the floor in a&e. My baby was fine too, although they could see the bleed on the scan. I bled until about 22 weeks, very stressful but in the end she was fine. Good luck x

I also had a sub-chorionic haematoma, but mine was earlier. I bled from weeks 5-11. It's very stressful, but I was told that bleeding can mean very little in a healthy pregnancy. Sounds like your little one is doing well. Fingers crossed it eases off soon and causes no more problems Flowers
(The other thing worth mentioning- I put myself on modified bed rest and I noticed a huge difference in the amount I bled and how much or little I did. A day on the sofa and only getting up for snacks, drinks and the loo generally meant a tiny bit of spotting. Going to meet a friend for lunch and walking for 1.5 miles over the course of the day meant I had to wear a pad instead of a panty liner.)

Similar experience- subchorionic haemorrhage also. Bled significantly at 9 weeks (was an extremely large amount) and then this settled down to brown bleeding with a few small altered blood clots. Has been stopped for at least a few weeks now (19 weeks at the moment). Baby had been fine all the way through. Hope you can keep calm and rest up!

Had the same, subchronionic haematoma from weeks 5-9 with first pregnancy. She is nearly 5 now! It was really stressful though. I remember it would happen every week and start with a sudden gush of red blood, uncomfortable feeling (rather than pain), and gradually taper off over the next few days to brown blood. I was signed off work and rested.
Just to be aware though, she was a small baby, under 6lb and was 2.5 weeks early. My hunch is that her small size and slightly early arrival were linked with the bleeding (my second was late and over 9lb), plus anecdotally I have heard similar.
Good luck xxx

Thank you for your replies everyone. I'm due to have a CVS test as well tomorrow as my oldest son has a genetic condition. I'm still bleeding but it is very light now. I really hope they are still going to do the test. X

LBNM19, I hope everything goes okay for you!

My fiance and I are currently in a bit of limbo as she's had some heavy bleeding the past few days. After taking the decision to go to A&E with her on Sunday night after the bleeding started on Friday (with some heavy clotting which is terrifying for her) we had a gyno doctor take a look at her, and the neck of the womb is most certainly closed which is good news. All the doctors she saw that night said she is still "very pregnant:.

Her HCG levels are 16000+ (bang on 9 weeks when we went to A&E and her blood was tested) and we've got ante natal tomorrow with a ultra-sound booked in for Friday thanks to early pregnancy squeezing us in.

This thread is leading me to believe that she may be subchorionic herself, though I suppose it could be any number of things. Thank you to those that have posted as I'm feeling a lot more reassured about the possible causes of the bleed.

Yes it does sound similar and it is very scary.

Hope all goes well on Friday, keep us updated.

Unfortunately I am still bleeding it's been 2 and a half weeks since it first started.

Hi, I am sorry for what happened to you.
I am 11 weeks pregnant and started a heavy breeding with large clots coming out today. NHS scan will be offered after a pregnancy hormone test being done in two days . I am very worried now. I just saw your post and am wondering did you have a healthy baby in the end? I am sorry to disturb you.

Kind Regards,
Amy

Just want to reassure that I had this too and all was fine in the end. I mirror what someone else had said on here - my baby was also on the small side and under 6lb (only just). I was induced due to slow growth. No other issues though.

Hi Amy, i ended up having my son at 28 weeks in 2016. I bles for 5 weeks in the end. They think that the bleeding is why i had him early.
I'm 37 weeks pregnant again and i also had the same in this pregnancy bur started around 9 weeks. Bled for 5ish weeks. I've had lots of extra mointering because my son was born so early and having a c section on monday.

I hope everything goes well with your scan. X

Thank you both for your immediately reply. I am very glad that your babies are safe in the end. It brings up my hope. I had two early miscarriages last year and both times babies stopped growing at week 7. This is my last trying as I can’t bear the loss anymore and I am not young. Anyway, I will keep positive and update any progress.
Thank you again. Xx
