Isofix - cars compatible with CabrioFix seat and EasyFix base

Annoying on the Maxi-Cosi website as you need to know the make and model of the car, whereas we're looking to buy a new car, so ideally would like a list of all compatible cars.

Anyway, do you know of any suitable cars based on experience?

That's quite an open question! What kind of car are you looking for?

We have a cabriofix and a 2wayfix, which I gather is the biggest of all the bases. I think it's all cars after 2004 that have isofix and I'd avoid superminis as they may not have enough room when rear facing. Personally, I'd also steer clear of 3drs. It's doable but a 5dr will be much easier.

Surely you'd be better just getting the new car you want and then paying the £100 ish if necessary for a new base? It's also worth bearing in mind that it's not necessarily the case that isofix always equals safer (though IIRC the cabriofix doesn't fare terribly well in Which safety tests when secured with a belt).

Anything 58 plate or newer will have isofix points.

If the base has a "leg" avoid cars with hidden storage under the floor in the back. The keg needs to rest on the chassis, not on a bit of plastic (or whatever) above a hole.

I think from 2018, all seats will need to be fixed with a base and not with a seatbelt.

'Anything 58 plate or newer will have isofix points'

Yep so we have an easyfix base and have used it in quite a few cars (mostly new but different makes) and it's fitted in all of them. Mine is an 08 plate (BMW one series) and it fits in that too.
My friend has an 03 Audi A3 and her base fits in that so I guess some older cars also have the isofix points.
