Hi, I'm a ftm and 40+3. Sweep is booked for today.

Anyone able to give me an idea of what to expect. But nervous but also desperate to get things started as hips, legs agony and can just about walk.

Thanks in advance!!

Sweeps can be uncomfortable dependent on how favourable your cervix is. My advice is to try and chat to the midwife throughout to help you relax and don't be disheartened if she can't do it, some people can have an unfavourable cervix, no dilation and then thay can all change and then they all of a sudden go into labour. Hope all goes well :)

Thank you. All done. Was very uncomfortable but the midwife explained the more I could cope with the more successful it is likely to be. Turns out I'm 3cms dilated and cervix is thin and she could feel the head. Feeling much more positive after a week of misery as can't really walk sit or lay due to sciatica or pgp. The end is in sight X

Oh wow. You should start feeling some pains soon. Sweeps have always worked for me when just over due date and soft cervix, as your 3cms already I think by tonight you'll be contracting. Good luck Flowers

Hiya, pains started at about 5 hours ago, like tightenings but with pain as opposed to discomfort. After the sweep I had a show which I assumed was the plug then a few hours later I think I defo lost the plug. Absolute grim. ConfusedBlush

As first baby feel like I don't want to get ahead of myself and think I'm moving quickly in case I have days of this to go yet! Pains averaging at about 5 mins apart with average 1-2 mins xxx

Hi all, had a baby boy on 08/06 after very fast progressive labour! We had a difficult start with me ending up in surgery and little one having an infection. All is well now and we're home after a 4 day stay in hospital xx
