Weekend break at 34 weeks

DH and I have had a pretty rough time lately so we have decided to take DS away to the coast for a little weekend break.

It's about an hour away from our house and hospital. I'll be taking mine and baby's hospital bag along with my notes just in case as I'll be 34 weeks pregnant.

A few people have said that they think it's too close to my due date and I shouldn't be going, I feel fine and my pregnancy has been pretty smooth so far so I'm not overly worried, I just wondered if I'm being bonkers?

I would have gone in that position with similar precautions just in case. Blimey you don't want to sit at home for the next possibly 8 weeks! Have fun

I'd go you won't be far from home go if anything did happen you would be ok as your not going far, if you was going to the other side of the world I'd be worrying too.

Go and try to relax a bit have fun with your ds & DH before you new arrival

Sure it will be fine, very unlikely to be that early. I did similar at your stage (and away next week at 38 weeks 3 hours from home-taking notes and hospital bag though).

Also worth checking out if any nearer hospitals to where you are going (any maternity unit should take you if you are in labour).

Have fun and enjoy time with your DH

And your DS too of course!

Definitely still go! I will still be at work until 36 weeks and it would take me longer than an hour to get to hospital with a bag if I went into labour before that date. Even when I finish work if I have to go in rush hour it's a 45 minute drive.

Oh and enjoy yourself. Tbh I'm a bit Hmm at the people telling you not to go, a lot of the time people enjoy worrying pregnant woman for some reason.

Thanks for everyone's replies, I'm really looking forward to a little break.

I think my family are worried that I'm doing too much as I have an Elton John and a Stone Roses gig in the same week as going away but I wouldn't be doing them if I didn't feel up to it.

It's nice to be busy doing things you enjoy and as you said if you didn't feel up to it you wouldn't go. My mum is always telling me I shouldn't be going to yoga or swimming in the evening as I should be resting. Every week I tell her the same thing that if I didn't want to go then I wouldn't be going. People go a bit mad around pregnant women GrinWink

I think yoga and swimming are brilliant things to do when pregnant and you are right, people do go a bit cuckoo around pregnant women!

I know my body and I know when I need to put my feet up so I've booked a spa day to balance things out Grin

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't packed hospital bags yet!

They were all packed and by the door ready to go at this stage with PFBWink
