Hi all - before I fell pregnant I was fairly active then took a good few months off. I know what to start again but o don't want to do anything to harm myself or my baby. I known I probably sound ridiculous but I am worried about starting exercise again! Can anyone let me know what they do or did? Thanks xx

You can start back keeping in low impact and easy. Exercise will absolutely not hurt your baby the risk is to you more at risk of injuries. It is so good for you my first pregnancy I didn't exercise I felt huge slow sore and unhealthy this time I've kept it up and feel so much better than I did last time.

Agree that advice is that exercise is encouraged during pregnancy. Just don't do anything you've not done before, anything where you have a chance of falling or being hit with something. You should be able to hold a conversation whilst doing it (so no Hiit classes etc) and not over heat also.
Do you have a gym membership? Worthwhile asking if any of the PT's have experience with training pregnant women and they can give you advice on what to do/what not to do etc.

Hi - I was in same position as you. In my first I did 45 min walk a day. Pliates one hour online class once a week. Unsure if this is what you were thinking off but I felt pretty good on it. Low impact adn heart rate was raised. I could really tell the difference on walking up gradients when I was in my first trimester to not being pregnant, out of breath so much quicker. Due to this and the learning curve I didn't do anything more strenuous. Was pleased was getting the fresh air too, mixed with the exercise = good oxygenated blood getting to my baby. I really missed it if I didn't go for the walk daily. Good Luck with it all and congratulations! Flowers

To add ...Oh yes I agree with prev poster. You should be ableto hold a conversation, this way ensures your body is working aerobically with enough levels oxygen and Not ananerobically (where your body's demand for oxygen exceeds the oxygen supply available).

Do everything you did beforehand (unless it's kickboxing/horse riding etc) and just slow down if it's hard. Now is not the time to take up a new sport or aim for your PB, but otherwise carry on as normal.
