Bleeding 9 weeks pregnant

I am 9 weeks pregnant and had bright red blood like a period for almost 3 days now.

The first time I saw it I freaked out and booked for a private scan the next morning!

The scan showed my baby was completely fine and wiggling around. She said she couldn't tell where the blood was coming from but she couldn't see any blood near my baby.

It has been two days now and I am still bleeding bright red blood - no pains. What the hell is happening and how long is this likely to last? I was hoping it would at least slow down by now.

Sorry I've no advice but I didn't want to read and run!
It must be awfully stressful for you but try to relax and stay positive.
If baby looked good then chances are it's going to be fine :)
If it carries on or gets heavier/you get any pain definitely get checked out.

I had a big bleed at 13 weeks with ds, like the first day of a heavy period. I too had a scan and everything was fine. The bleeding lasted at least a week, but turned darker and more brown after 4-5 days. It was made much worse by walking about so keep your feet up.

I had 3 lots of bleeding around weeks 6-7 I think, one of which lasted 6 days.

He's now a 1 year old, smacking the TV and causing beautiful mayhem.

Hi MI I am currently 14+3 and have been bleeding since the day of my 12 week scan when I was exactly 13 weeks. It's been reddy/brown blood and enough for me to need a panty liner every day so far. My 12 week scan and a subsequent private scan have both shown a healthy, wriggly baby and so far no one has been able to explain the bleeding. It's extremely frustrating and I'm still constantly anxious but both midwife and GP have said this is not related to the baby as I've seen a healthy heartbeat and there's no bleeding in the womb. No idea how much longer this will go on for but it does seem to be tailing off now. I just wanted to reassure you that it does happen (unfortunately) but seems it can be harmless and all can be ok. Hope yours stops soon and you're not too anxious.

I had a bright red bleed last pregnancy at 8 weeks. I was in the Maldives too so there was absolutely Bugger all I could do about it. A scan on our return showed all was well and no cause for it..... I think it's more common than people realise.

Thank you for your messages. I am still going crazy. It has now been two weeks since I started bleeding. I had a scan last Tuesday and this Monday to check the baby and everything is still fine. No sign of blood on the scan.

I can't believe it is still happening.

I had this with my first pregnancy, sorry to say I bled from 7 weeks (huge bright red flood) right through until about 22 weeks. Some days was red some days was brown some days barely any at all. They never did find a cause of it and the baby is now 6.
I also bled for about a week with my second around 8 weeks, again no cause found but all was well.
It is really scary and frustrating when you don't know why but it's also not that unusual. Rest up and I hope it settles soon.

I passed a fairly alarming amount of blood one day at around 8/9 weeks and I'm fine now (just had my 20 week scan). Apparently it can be the placenta embedding or something - try not to worry.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this and there has been positive outcomes.

This is my first baby and I am so worried about all this blood!

Hi all. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and began bleeding 4 days ago. It has gone from light to heavy to light again and colour has changed too. Had a US Tuesday which confirmed all in correct place and heartbeat present sono suggested implantation bleed. It continued so returned yest and had another US still a heartbeat but sono said she would have preferred to see it faster and that the embryo was low down. Herself and nurse bailly sympathised with me and hubby and we are devastated. Hoping we still have a chance of a healthy pregnancy. Day 5 of bleeding but it still not as heavy as a period. Stressful time! Never had any issues with my first pregnancy! Anyone experienced similar?

27penny I hope the bleeding stops.

I bled at 6 weeks, scanned, everything was OK. Then gushed blood at 8-9 weeks, scanned, everything OK. Baby is here now, very healthy and pretty strong. Some women just bleed for whatever reason I guess Smile

Awe it's lovely to hear the positive experiences! It's very scary especially after a problem free pregnancy and birth. I'm thinking of getting a private scan as the epu won't let me back until 12 days time and I don't think I can worry for that long. At least I would know either way!

I'm so sorry to read your update. It's just so heartbreaking having a miscarriage, especially finding out at your 12 week scan.
I had a very similar experience a few years ago, but thankfully went on to have my previous daughter late that year.
I hope you're recovering well from the D&C and being well looked after. Be kind to yourself and take all the time you need before returning to work. Huge hugs.

MI1091 I am so sorry for your loss. I had the same experience as you last month but my baby had already gone so I didn't need a D&C. Finding out at the 12 week scan is such a painful thing as it is meant to be an exciting milestone. I will never forget that moment.
The most useful advice I was given was by the nurse we saw afterwards who said to remember that your partner and you will deal with this in different ways.
Make sure you take care of yourself and each other. xxx
