Pregnancy

Do you carry differently for different sexes

My first two pregnancies were girls. I was slightly bigger with the second but still tiny and didn't show till six months with the first and five months with the second. This time though I am huge!! Literally by six weeks I looked like I was four months pregnant and I know it's not baby as it wouldn't be that high yet so it's probably just hormonal bloat or water retention but makes me think maybe this ones a boy as it's totally different to my others....or maybe it's just my age and my stomach muscles aren't what they used to be. Did anyone else carry differently?

With DD I didn't look pregnant from the back and only got a bump from around 28/30wks currently pregnant with DS and I'm big already had a noticeable bump since around 15wks my bump seems to spread around the sides too. With DD I also had bad HG and lost nearly 2 stone, with DS had bad nausea but only sick twice and lost 1 stone. I was bloated in both pregnancies early on though so might be bloat. Congratulations

Thanks. Congratulations to you too. Yes, I'm much wider with this one too so I'm thinking boy but it will interesting to see if my theory is right. Think I'm going to have to tell people much earlier this time round as I hate lying to people. I'm only 9 weeks gone now and I'm conscious friends are constantly looking at my tummy and I've already had to lie to both sets of parents, my sister and even my 9 year old DD has asked if I'm pregnant!!!

I was neat with DS and my skin/hair went dry. Not very sick.

DD: wide as a house, massive bobs, spotty and sick as a dog.

But for every story like that you'll hear others where people had vastly different pregnancies and had the same!

In my massive survey of one woman with two babies, yes, I did. Lol

Ds1-gained 4st, big bump really early.
Ds2 gained barely anything, and barely no hint of a bump until 35 weeks.
Ds3, again tiny until around 35 weeks
Ds4 carried on my bum more, small bump until it dropped when I was about to have him so 34 weeks.
This time having a girl small bump still 23+2. Carrying on my bottom like ds4.

So in my case I carried my first two very different and both was boys.

There is absolutely no scientific evidence that the sex of the baby affects the shape of your bump. It's your stomach muscles and the way baby is laying.
