chemical pregnancy worry

Hi,

Just looking for a bit of reassurance or advice. Been getting really feint lines and been reading them a minute after they say you should (but not over the time limit) on first response and sainsburys cheapies, my periods aren't regular (5 days either way) but maximum I'm late is about 6 days, would be maximum 5 weeks and one day pregnant now. I have tested with a digital clear blue (25mlU/ml) and that came back positive within a minute an half.

About 6 days ago started getting sore and swollen boobs, a bit sicky feeling, ridiculously tired and can't drink milk (it tastes sour!)

Went the doctors yesterday, she refused to do a blood test, and told me I was probably not pregnant (she didn't even test me herself). At this point I hadn't done a digital one. I've waited 48 hours between the first response but the line isn't getting any darker. I haven't had any loss of blood so far.

Just after a bit of advice, never posted on here before but panicking because I had a miscarriage with my last pregnancy but the doctor has scared me now into thinking I'm not pregnant or if I am, I'm just going to lose it because it's a chemical pregnancy.

Help :(

If the Dr didn't do a test and you had already had a positive result, why would she say you probably weren't? I'm a bit confused.
And if the digi says you are is that not reassuring?

Exactly my thoughts! I did try and ask her but she kept wish washing me with vague answers, and just made me feel stupid. Something about because 'when she was pregnant her stick lit up as soon as she urinated on it' and mine did not.

Although my digital test came back positive yesterday and today, my non digital tests are still coming up feint. Considering I first tested on Monday and it's been 48 hours the haven't got any darker that's my worry.

Plus I can't avoid going to the toilet for more than 4 hours including over night so I can't even get a concentrated wee sample to test with.

I think the doctor and the fact my first (and only) pregnancy ended in a miscarriage is making me worry. I used to trust tests but now I'm convinced it's a false positive.

I don't think you get false positives, only false negatives as the hormone it looks for only occurs when you are pregnant.
If it's strong enough to get a digital result then you're pregnant - congrats!

As for the line getting darker, we're the tests from the same batch or was one sainsbos and one FR? IME different batches have different strength of lines and I really wouldn't dwell too much on it if you can. The sore boobs are a great sign.

As for your Dr.... I'd get a second opinion if you want a blood test, she sounds awful!

I'm currently at the doctors now waiting (patiently) for a second opinion. Been getting a terrible pain in one side.

I did non digital and digital test this morning and the line was darker (not as dark as I would of liked, but still darker) and was visible straight away, I didn't have to wait for it to appear and the digital one took just over a minute to give me a pregnant result as opposed to a minute and half. Don't know if that's a good sign.

How did you get on Emily? Hope you're ok and got some reassurance with a different doctor.

They are sending me up to the EPU to get an early scan so they can rule out ectopic because of the pains I'm getting. I have an appointment at 2.30 today but my partner is in work so having to go on my own and I really nervous. Fingers crossed though!

At least the doctor was more helpful This time.

Just been the scan, they can't see anything as it must be too early so they have blood tested me and will again on Saturday and compare my hormones.

Absolutely hate waiting!

Hi Emily well done for being so brave it is very early so you're doing great. Good luck for your blood results, I'm going through similar stuff right now and you are being a lot braver than I am. Good luck Flowers

How odd. You have positive pregnancy tests. It's normal for them to be faint at first - mine were so faint you had to really squint and look at the strip against the light at first. You are clearly pregnant and while yes, many pregnancies end up as chemicals, I don't think the doc gave you any reasons why this should be the case?

Thank you Majorlyscared, let me know if I can offer any support for you. Just need to persevere with it until I get some answers, that's more draining than the pregnancy symptoms I'm experiencing.

Katharina, that's what I thought, I thought it just ment it was still early days. I agree about the doctor not giving me reasons, I just don't think she was a very good doctor, I haven't seen her before. The doctor today didn't mention about chemical pregnancy. But with nothing showing up today, I'm still panicking and paranoid about it being a chemical pregnancy.

Is it usual to go veiny during first few weeks? I've never noticed so many veins all over my legs and boobs!

What did the bloods come up as? If they're high then I wouldn't worry too much! I don't like to be the bearer of bad news but when I MC'd last the digis kept saying positive after the lines had gone on the others so don't put too much stock into what the sticks are doing. If your blood levels are high then hurrah!

Phoning up at half 9 to find out. The EPU nurse said I shouldn't hope for a sky high hcg because that would mean that she should of saw something in my womb, she said I just want my 60% rise. But won't find out until tomorrow what the 2nd lot of bloods are.

Will keep you posted

That seems a touch low for where you thought you were, but still nice and high - well into the pregnant zone!! Maybe you just ovulated later than normal? Consistent with not seeing anything on the scan. Keeping my fingers crossed for a much higher reading next time, good luck! (And stop peeing on sticks, you'll drive yourself crazy and learn nothing at all) X

Honestly I've done about 15 tests since Monday, and yes it has drove me crazy haha. I thought that, but they didn't seem concerned at the EPU so I think I must of just of done as I wasn't doing ovulation tests.

Tomorrow can't come quick enough!
