GTT and Hyperemesis

I've got the GTT test tomorrow - starting at 8.30am. The info says I mustn't eat or drink anything except water from 8.30pm tonight.

Trouble is, the HG is crippling enough as it is without not eating ANYTHING. First thing in the morning I need to eat something or I'm gagging and heaving for the rest of that day. If everything goes to plan I should be able to eat from 10.30am, but if they are late or there are any hold ups, it could be longer. I'm not sure how I'm going to manage :(

Do you need to have it?

Yes I think so, my BMI is over 30 so it's recommended.

I declined one based on BMI alone, mw were happy for me to just have it if I became symptomatic. To be fair it sounds unlikely that you are going to be able to manage it with the HG, and it is common that the drink makes women sick as well. If you decide to go ahead, good luck with it. I think I'd be tempted to postpone and discuss with mw at your next appointment.

When you get there make it really clear that you have HI and ask for a bed if possible. They do our gtt's next to the epu so if they are quiet they allow you to have a bed on the understanding that you may have to give it up.

Postponing isn't recommended as gd doesn't always become symptomatic and it can be dangerous to baby very quickly.

I puked 1 hr and 45 in and they said it was log enough to extrapolate the results
