34 weeks pregnant - growth scan - need reassurance!

Hi All.

I have just had my 34 week appt with my midwife who wants me to go for a scan because I was measuring 31.5cm. At my 28 week appt I was measuring 28cm. This is my second baby and I was always spot on with my first, she was a whopping 9lbs 5oz when she made her appearance 2 weeks late!

Really, I am wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation about this stage? Just trying not to worry! TYIA

This happened with me around the same time with my little boy. It turned out that one of the two different midwives who measured me was measuring from the wrong point and underestimating. I'm sure it'll be nothing to worry about!

Last pregnancy I kept measuring small but the baby was fine. This time I keep measuring big, but the scans have been fine. It's not an exact science, try not to worry.

I was told my baby was huge and going to be at least 10lbs. She was born at 6lb 13oz. Scans can be wrong or incorrect

I was sent for a growth scan at 34 weeks too but all was ok, he was born 8lb 13 oz.

I had a 34 week growth scan this week and have been referred for more. Even though the rational part of me is confident all is fine, that extra scans are a bonus, it still bothers me and I find myself thinking about it far more than is healthy...
Do you know when you are going to be seen?

Sorry should have said they thought my baby was going to be big before they scanned me and he was 8lbs at 40+1 Smile

I had the same as lolastarr in my first pregnancy, my midwife measured me fine at about 36 weeks but I was sent to hosp for monitoring as they heard some decels. Mw at hosp measured me small and sent me for an extra growth scan, all was fine and baby was healthy 7 lb 10 at birth.

They just use a paper tape measure so its not ever going to be particularly accurate.

I have my 34 week appt with the mw tomorrow and am worried my bump is small as I've been monitoring my weight gain and it doesn't seem very much (about 5-7kg), not nearly as much as last time, but that could be down to running around after a toddler and working.

Where I live they do a 36 week scan as standard for everyone so I have one next week to confirm anyway which I find reassuring.

Hopefully your extra scan will be reassuring and, just think, its an extra chance to see your baby!
