transverse oblique ? 37 weeks.

I'm off to the Consultant today and I'm 37 weeks with an ustable lying fetus. It wriggles about loads but doesn't seem to get engaged! I heard I may be hospitalised and have to have the baby taken out early - is this right?????????? It's my second baby - first was a natural birth.

don't know - but mine was transverse right up until i went into labour with the second. They told me i may have to have emergency c-section but the baby turned and all was ok. I heard it is quite common for the baby to turn very late, even in labour, if not 1st baby. Esp if the baby is small (she was born 6lbs 10oz, bang on due date).

there is a danger in going into spontanoues labour with a transverse baby, as neither the head nor the bottom are engaged in the pelvis..the cord could get washed down in front of the baby if the waters go and that can be dangerous...also, there is no way to deliver a trasnverse baby vaginally...so you would have to have c.s

i do not think you have to stay in hospital, but have a section at 39 weeks or so, with instructions to get to hospital immediately if you think labour has started before then.

it would seem to depend on each hospital & consultant to a certain extent ...as twickersmum shows...
