Spots on face in pregnancy

I've always been fairly lucky regarding spots, but since becoming pregnant I have lots of little whiteheads across my cheeks, which I presume are due to hormonal changes. I don't generally wear make up, and as my skin gets very dry and sensitive, my skincare 'routine' consists of washing my face with water and moisturising with nivea cream after a shower.

As pregnancy has already rendered me tired and anaemic looking, can anyone recommend anything for the spots? I don't want to start scaring small children with my appearance. Grin

As an aside, when can I expect to stop looking like death warmed up and get that fabled pregnancy glow?!

If you're anything like me, never!

I looked awful for my whole pregnancy, spots when I always had great skin, my hair was a riot, my face puffed up. You get the picture. I'm happy to say it all went back to normal after the birth but I was definitely not a radiant and glowing pregnant woman.

Bah Magpie. Is this another lovely pregnancy thing I'll have to live with then (like the tiredness, nausea, vomiting, anaemia, constipation etc...)?

This baby best be cute. Grin

Haha! Pregnancy is not glamorous that's for sure.

I can promise you that it's all worth it though.

I had bad skin all the way through, sorry!

I don't think the gp will prescribe anything. Try Cetaphil cleanser (doesn't do anything magical but is very gentle) and a decent face mask a couple of times a week, I use an Una Brennan one. Oh and Eucerin Dermopurifer Concentrate.

Hopefully it will just be a brief stage of pregnancy for you but if not get yourself to the gp once baby has arrived. I got prescribed Limocyclin but you can't breastfeed with it.

Right, thanks for the replies magpie and alis. Hopefully only 22 weeks and 3 days until I look normal again!

I've had this! Still waiting for the "glow" I've started using elimis trip enzyme re surfacing wash and then the sos cream at night and it's made such a difference. It's so funny how much your skin changes, this has made a big difference for me.

Duac once daily is the only thing that ever worked for my spots other than a course of antibiotics.

sorry, should have been clearer, I used the duac whilst pregnant, the ABs were when I was 19

My skin is appalling. Even the midwife commented on it (I didn't mention it). To be honest I have found it has looked slightly better when I started using more expensive products such as Elemis, Lancôme and Estée Lauder. Not good for the bank balance though! I have really dry hands and legs too. Sad

My skin was lovely from about 20 weeks onwards.

I have always struggled with acne and as soon as I got pregnant my awful teenage skin came back. Only this time it was my face, back, chest and arms Sad But! Hit 26 weeks and my skin is actually amazing now.
