I'm currently just over 31 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby and have been diagnosed with GD. I have a fairly complicated obstetric and general medical history and know I will have a c-section no later than 38 weeks.

I was diagnosed today following a GTT at my local hospital assessment unit as I've been having 'funny turns' an hour or so after eating and generally feeling pretty unwell. I was due to have a GTT 3 weeks ago at 28 weeks but my DH was run over and very seriously injured - still in serious condition in hospital with a long way to go before he recovers.

My question is really, at this stage in my pregnancy, what should I expect treatment wise? It's making me pretty unwell at the moment and I've got a great deal on my plate with a toddler and long days in the hospital. My levels were nearly 8 fasting and 10 after the 2 hours.

Thank you!

Hi I have this. Your levels are quite high which is why you feel funny as such as there is a lot of sugar running in your system. You will get a blood sugar monitor to monitor yourself a few times a day. You will be allocated a diabetic nurse and consultant. With your levels so high I would expect they would want to put you on insulin or tablet medication to try and bring them down to what they should be.
