Getting hot

I am 23dpo today and pg (5 weeks).

Today I had been outside quite a while and I was absolutely freezing. I sat in front of a blow heater chatting to my Dsis. I then realised I was a bit too warm and was sweating.

Now i am really worried as I know that getting too hot is bad especially at this time when the neural tube is forming and closing.

You have 35 weeks more worry ahead of you, all being well, so try to stop worrying and try to relax. how do you think babies are ever born in hot countries if getting a little bit hot and bothered was so bad?

If you are worrying this much at 5 weeks about getting a bit hot and sweaty its going to be one VERY long pregnancy for you!

As CityMole said, how do you think babies are born in hot countries? I was actually speaking to a family member who is 18 weeks who lives in Spain this morning, and while we are in lovely minus 1.....its 27 degrees where she is.....at the beginning or March.

try to relax, if you feel hot put a cold damp cloth on the back of your neck to cool yourself down.

Try to enjoy your pregnancy Grin

You are at absolutely zero risk from sitting in front of a heater. You do not need to worry about it in the slightest, sit in front of as many heaters as you like. The advice about over heating is to do with saunas and hot tubs. :) It's worth finding out a bit more about the advice surrounding pregnancy if half-remembered warnings like this are going to stress you out so much. I'd recommend Emily Oster 's book Expecting Better, which gives the facts and the research behind them so everyone can make informed decisions.
