I'm a mumsnet virgin. 34wks+4days and its soooo nice to hear from women with the same moans and groans. I've got sick of hearing myself droning on as i'm sure have my DH and various family members! Particularly interested in heartburn remedies which is the bain of my life and has been for months. As well as the practices of raspberry leaf and the delightful 'perineal massage'.

Anyone else due around similar time?

if you stroll over to Ante-natal Clubs you'll find a whole bunch of people at the same stage as you...
(NB you'll be addicted in no time)

I'm guessing you're due January/February - if you look in the antenatal section of the site, there is a club you can join for the relevant month

Congrats on the pregnancy and welcome to Mumsnet - although I have to warn you, it's VERY addictive

Ah yes, I joined at about your stage with DD2. Two weeks later I was actually on MN as I went into labour, and have hardly logged off since

Tis my Ist and we've resisted the temptation to find out sex. Can already feel the addiction!

For heartburn try nibbling a few almonds with their brown skins still on (seriously). Good luck

Mint tea is also good for heartburn.

Welcome and congratulations.

Hi Codeye
Heartburn-grate some apple and let it go brown and then munch on some throughout the day, the oxidation of the apple really helps.

Rasberry leaf- from third trimester on, 1 cup a day increasing amounts, about three cups a day from 37 weeks on. Honey helps with the taste at first.

perineal massage, i did it, but didn't help the inside where i tore, so maybee it did help outside , luckily had epidural so didn't feel it.

A great heartburn rememdy for me was to stop eating wheat - as soon as I stopped the heartburn went away.

Try to avoid sugar and artificial sweetners, for some reason that always gets my heart burning.
