Hi, I've been reading many threads on this topic and keep wondering about myself. I'll be 45 next month and have 8 years old boy. I read pros and cons of being pregnant at mid-40's and understand that it is not so unusual to have a baby at this age but I wanted to hear what you think of my situation.
My son is diagnosed as high-functioning autism at age 3. Luckily, he now is discharged from hospital care after a few years of language/occupational therapy and monitoring period and doing well at mainstream school both socially and academically. This made me feel more positive and wanting to have another chance to raise a child but concerned that the condition can be genetic and my second child could be having the condition that could be much more serious.
Another concern is finance. Everywhere I look on the web seem to think that parents in their 40's are financially secure - but not in my case.
Both my husband and I are self employed musicians and we don't get bonus, pay raise, holiday packages...etc., and I worry if we can afford to bring another child and could provide.
If I am already pregnant, there will be no going back, and there might not be much chance of me getting pregnant if I tried.
It's more like I don't want to regret not trying and want to do a reality check. Maybe it's lady's version of mid-life crisis?!
If you are in my situation, would try for another baby???
