Snuzpod question

Opinions please! We have a Snuzpod which I wanted to attach to our bed as a bedside co-sleeper.

The bed is a high divan, already at the 57" or whatever is the highest setting for the Snuzpod. BUT we have a memory foam mattress topper on there at the moment which adds another 3" ish, that I would like to keep on if possible. Problem is this means even on the highest setting the Snuzpod mattress is a few inches below the top of our bed mattress.

Is this safe? Has anyone else used a Snuzpod with a similar set up? There's no gap, if anything the opposite, there is a ridge so I wouldn't be able to slide baby across without lifting slightly. Is there any risk because of reduced ventilation etc? I was thinking I could keep the side zipped up most of the time anyway.

Obviously I will just take off the mattress topper if needed, but that will have to be after baby gets here as I can't get to sleep without it now because of giant bump!

I'm not basing this on anything other than what I would do but I think I'd take the mattress topper off when baby arrives for a couple of months.

Take the mattress topper off. The snuzpod instructions are clear about there not being more 1 or 2 inches difference. I have wooden bed frame and there is about 1/2 inch difference in the heights and it does reduce how good the snuzpod is, we bought a second mattress for the snuzpod to rectify it and that has helped but you couldn't do that for 3inches, the sides of the snuzpod wouldn't be high enough to be safe.

I would also take the topper off. I used a Bennett last time and have snuzpod this time. However, my last two still preferred sleeping with me Smile. With the best will in the world, most babies end up in bed with the parents at some point so apart from large gap, I also wouldn't want a memory foam topper as I would be concerned about baby over heating when in bed with me.

Thanks for the replies :)

You are all right, I was just trying to get everything set up now before baby arrives but will wait until afterwards when I can take off the mattress topper. I'll just leave it as free standing for now.

You could put some wood or something to raise up the level under the legs of the snuzpod if you love your topper enough. Not a pretty solution mind.
