Anyone else in the last throes of pregnancy?? And what are you looking forward to the most?

I'm 39+2 with DC2. I've not been pregnant for this long before as DS arrived 2wks early. Looking back it was bliss as it took me completely by surprise as it was done and dusted by now!

Every twinge I'm now like Shock is this it?? I've been like this for 3 wks now as was naively thinking this one would be here by now Confused

I've been off work for agggeesss as, again, thought better to be safe than sorry!! Hmm

I can't do much anymore as so sore so pretty bored!

Anyone else in the same boat - clock watching and analysing every twinge?? Keep me company!

Also what are you looking forward to the most after the baby arrives?? (apart from the actual baby!Grin) I'm looking forward to:

  1. The food I've missed - runny eggs, medium rare steak, pate
  2. Clothes that fit!
  3. Not waking 4+ times a night for the loo and everytime I need to turn over!
  4. Lying on my front
  5. No longer sounding 100 years old everytime I get up/sit down
  6. Prosecco!!
  7. Not having DP look at me every time in a panic when I groan in case it's labour kicking off
  8. The feeling of the relief when it's all over, the baby is here safely and my family is complete and I don't have to do it ever again! (this is what I'm most excited about - gazing into newborns eyes knowing it was all worth it. Sigh)

1.not looking like a whale waddling down the road.

  1. A very LARGE glass (or bottle) of rose Wine
  2. Being able to wear more then trackie bottoms and leggings (a dress and nice pair of heels perhaps?)

Also second your number 4 and 5 Smile

It has been long! The end is in sight now though!

How are you feeling about the birth? I'm halfway through a birthing book that's been recommended on here. When I'm reading it I feel confident I'll get through it, then afterwards my confidence wanes and I start panicking that I hope I'll get to the hospital in time for an epidural!! Plus that I can get someone to care for DS while we're there.

Re number 4 do it before you get rock boobs Grin it was awesome. I got home and went as quickly as I could snail like to my bed and starfished on my front. It was nearly as good as the champagne.

  • Not needed to pee 5 times a night.
  • Not waking up every 1-2 hours with horrendous foot / leg cramp.
  • Also lying on my front.
  • No longer sounding 100 years old everytime I get up/sit down < This.
  • Being able to bend down without feeling like I'm crushing all my internal organs
  • Not constantly having a wet / smelly vagina (lochia aside, obviously)

I had the middle of the night leg and foot cramps with DS and it was horrendous! Only happened once with this one luckily. You have my sympathies!

Thanks Purple. It's been happening for the last two night and I can't take 3 more weeks (max) of this! I'm so tired and grumpy today.

Off out later to buy a heating pad for the bed, and will be doing exercises before bed too. Hope to god this helps!

35+5 today and just started Maternity Leave Smile

I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks of tea and cake and sleep.

I've missed sleeping on my front - I can't get comfy on either side!
I've missed wine and I have a very nice bottle of rose waiting just for me (I will not be sharing...)
I've loved getting everything ready for the baby and am really looking forward to meeting this little person.

Grin poo

I never had all the hanging around with DC1 even though he was only 2wks early but I expected to go over with it being my first so this is all new to me! Smile

The phone calls and texts have started... Any news?! Nope, still pregnant!

mellow I've been getting a really sore pain in my ribs under my left boob when I lie down that's driving me nuts!

I never did stop the leg cramps apart from having the baby (!) so I hope the heat pad helps you.

39+1 here and soooooo sick of being pregnant! Cannot wait to;

lie on my back without feeling guilty,

be able to wear anything on my feet other than the one pair of loose ankle boots I can easilyish put on

Have an ice cold glass of Pinot

Not have to say "oof" every time I stand up/sit down/roll over/bend down etc etc etc

Find out if I'm having a son or daughter

See DS meet his new baby sister/brother - he's so excited!

37 + 5 here, DC1.

Looking forward to NO LONGER BEING SODDING PREGNANT.

Being able to bend down.

Being able to walk further than 100 feet without feeling breathless.

Getting some sodding sleep eventually Yes, I know that won't be soon! I can dream... Been waking through the night, every night, for the past 3 months, and for the last few weeks this has come with a side order of added tinnitus. Beep, beep, beep, whoosh, beep, squeak, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, squeak, squeak, squeak. FOR WEEKS. If one more person tells me to enjoy my sleep now before the baby gets here I might have to stab them in the eye.

And of course, y'know, the actual baby Grin Looking forward to bringing him home Smile

I can't wait to not waddle like I've had an accident!!
Also not needing to plan my shopping trips around where there are semi decent public toilets.
I am hyper mobile so the extra relaxin hormone or whatever it's called has made my body give up carrying my additional weight, my shoulder blade now sticks out, and my hips could compete with a 90 year old !
I also can't wait to have my baby in my arms after months of wondering what she's going to be like !!

UptownFunk00 · 05/02/2016 18:17

39 weeks exactly.

I can't wait now.

-- not hurt literally all over.
-- at least have less discharge
-- no cervical cramping
-- being able to lay on my stomach.
-- being able to pick up DD without a lot of pain.
-- showing DD2 to DD1.

Probably others too.

I was induced at 39 + 5 with DD1.so have no idea what natural labour is like so every twinge is an excited 'yes she's coming!!'

36w here, DC2. I'm looking forward to...

Brie
A huge glass of wine whenever I fancy it.
Being able to lie down/sit however I want without thinking if it's going to hurt
Being able to turn over in bed pain free
Being able to bend down
Being able to sit on the floor and play with DS
Not being overtaken by 80yo.
Enjoying a walk in the park instead of fearing my pelvis might fall apart
Getting my body back

Had MW appt today and she's written baby is 3/5 engaged. I know it doesn't mean anything, but I'm getting excited! Better pack my hospital bag.

Seems like we all have similar aches and pains that we can't to end!

I went to the supermarket yesterday and I was so sore I thought my insides were going to fall out so leaving the shopping to DP from now on! It's a struggle doing anything these days! Luckily DS is easy(ish) to look after so that hasn't been as bad as anticipated although I'm not able to play football with him now which he's not happy about! 2 kicks and I'm done! Too painful.

The people who were going to watch DS when I go into labour booked a last minute holiday so I've spent the past fortnight stressing I wouldn't have anyone for him but they're back tomorrow so I feel a lot less anxious now and excited for things to get moving!

Purple pineapples that's a bit risky of them! I'm not surprised you were feeling stressed by that. Glad they are back tomorrow!

I can't wait for this to be over!!
36 weeks with twins that are due next Thursday.
Looking forward to not worrying constantly about movements.
Not having permanent period pains and aches.
Eating a large Brie baguette. Followed by a pate one.
And a glass of crisp white wine.
Being able to lie on my back in bed.
Not feeling completely disabled by this EMORMOUS bump of mine.
Not being stared at in the street.
Being physically able to walk down the street. CakeWine

Yea, I was a bit surprised when they told me! Oh well, doesn't matter now.

I totally understand about the reduced movements thing. I've been a nightmare this pregnancy with that. It wasn't as big a thing even 3 years ago when pregnant with DS but this time they do talk about it a lot which has made me really paranoid! Congratulations on twins! Flowers

I thought it was all kicking off this morning! Woke up to some early labour symptoms and what felt like mild contractions for a couple of hours but it's all stopped now!! Gutted!
