Pregnancy

Am I pregnant?

Hi

This is the first time I've posted on here. I've just started trying for a baby and am really nervous. I tested on Sunday morning and got a very faint line. On Tuesday it was a bit darker. I tested again yesterday and today and it was really faint again! I'm due on my period today and just have pms symptoms. I'm scared I've had a really early miscarriage as the line was darker and is now getting lighter again. Has anyone had this? What was the outcome?

Thanks, any opinions really appreciated!

Charlotte

If you've tested positive then yes you are pregnant. The darkness of the lines don't really matter as can be massively affected by the time if the day you test and how hydrated you are (as the pregnancy hormone HCG that they pick up will be more diluted).
Unfortunately miscarriages as common, something I didn't realise until I started my pregnancy journey, but statistically you're still far more likely to have a normal pregnancy than a miscarriage (1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage).
So try to focus on the good and get started on your pregnancy vits (folic acid etc) and call your doc surgery to organise your Booking appointment with your midwife, usually around 8-12 weeks.
Congratulations!

Thanks so much for your kind words! They cheered me up. I'm just really worried because the lines are getting lighter and not darker like I presumed they would. I'm just wondering if this happens prior to miscarriage? I guess it's just a waiting game, I never though it would cause me this much anxiety! Thanks X

It's so variable and you've tested super early as you mentioned your period is only due today. Most tests are recommended to only be taken the day of, or day after your period. So the fact you're showing positive is a positive!
I know it's hard but try to relax into it. I had terrible pregnancy anxiety (I sadly suffered three miscarriages before I had my daughter) but comforted myself with the thought of waking up each morning and saying 'today I am pregnant'. Just a day at a time when weeks and months seem a bit daunting!
Congratulations and try to enjoy it. X
