sick of being told not long left

Im 31 weeks and all people say to me is not long now. I have 9 weeks maybe even 11. My sickness is bad my heartburn is constant. Im knackered. I can't eat, can't sleep. Everyday is like a week and I have 9 weeks possibly 11 left. Keep your not long lefts to yourself unless it's on the day I go onto labour. Hormonal mummy in need of a rant. Is this just me or anyone else the same

Amen!!!! I am due tomorrow but this has been my biggest pet peeve! My other most hated phrase is "aw but it will be worth it in the end".
Why can't people just say, "that sounds really shit, here is a giant galaxy bar"? I know they mean well but it makes me.want to scream.

I remember it. In about 6 weeks the 'is the baby there yet' calls will start. I snapped and said, damn you caught me, he was born last week, I was going to keep it secret!

Tell me about it. 37+1 with constant aches. Can't get up from the sofa. Not long left? Great. Obviously I've got nothing to complain about then. Oh and look I'm awake again. Ugh.

Oh man. I think the last few weeks are awful. Not long! It's a freaking life time.
Sorry you're struggling

The first 8 months take 8 months , and the last month takes another 8 months.
Things speed up after that.

Yes I hate it.!! 34 weeks and just want this to be over. I honestly can't see myself doing another 6 weeks of this, and I'm not even considering going overdue otherwise I'll pull her out myself lol.

Snap, I'd send a hug but I doubt we'd reach.
They're mean and smell of wees and feet.

I remember this well. They're all bastards.

My due date was on the 26th of the month. On the 1st of that month my DM phoned going "you're going to have a baby this month!" I managed to not tell her to FOAD, but I was a touch ungracious in pointing out the baby could be overdue. Which indeed she was, and was born early in the next month.

Have a strawberry milkshake from mcdonalds OP. Helped my heartburn and my mood though not the size of my arse

I completely agree, it's so annoying! 35 weeks now and finishing work this week, some of the comments my team feel they are entitled to say to me include "oh my god you're massive!"; "oh, you won't know what's hit you when he's here"; "your life is going to change beyond all recognition" (really, you think?!); and the worst one - "can I touch your bump for good luck?" (said with outstretched hands by someone I hardly know).
My MIL phones up every week and wants a detailed blow by blow account of how many weeks I am (just one more than last week funnily enough!); what the midwife said and when am I due - the same date as the last 100 times you've bloody asked me!!!!!!! agghhhh!!
Oh my god I'll be glad when this is all over, but it's kinda nice to know I'm not alone! Smile

I get 'Gosh, your so big. Can't have much longer. Why are you still at work?'
I'm 34 weeks and staying at work till 38. People have been saying it for the last 10 weeks!

I'm 40+3. It's fucking great.

Grin at jen though. That made me laugh.

People kept saying that to me at 31 weeks and there really wasn't long to go... 3 weeks later I had a baby. So you never know! Admittedly, those were three very long weeks but I still didn't have anything ready!

I'm now overdue so getting about 5 texts per day. Every single one makes me want to scream and just reminds me that I am fed up and sick of being pregnant. It also makes you feel like some kind of failure for not hitting your due date.
Also why does every single person then respond with the old "well you know what they say gets things moving...wink wink"? Like you haven't a)heard that a thousand times already and b) tried literally EVERYTHING to get the baby out already. Grrrr

Report
MaisieDotes · 31/01/2016 11:26

jen yes exactly. My mother on the phone to me yesterday- "are you sure you're not in labour? You sound a bit breathy". Breathy??? Confused

Then my sister. "Have you tried eating a hot curry?"

GO. AWAY.

Report
MummySparkle · 31/01/2016 11:30

Oh gosh I remember this well!! Especially with DC2 as I had them close together. I started getting 'you can't have long left' at about 5months as I already looked 8months pregnant!! My body went 'ahh yes, I remember what pregnant looks like... Here have a MASSIVE bump!!'

I was sooo sick of it by the end. I had frank words with my bump at 37weeks and told baby I'd had enough of the heat, back pain, inability to sleep, and all the rest. It was time for her to come out... She was born the next day Grin

I feel your pain OP, take it with a pinch of salt and tell them to shut up!

paxillin · 31/01/2016 12:25

Not long now Well, it depends, 2 weeks of sun and sea is not long. 2 weeks of being the size of a small family car, huffing and puffing up the stairs, weeing three times an hour plus back pain and constipation is a bloody eternity.

Report
paxillin · 31/01/2016 12:27

Oh yes, have sex to get things moving. I am in pain no matter what and feel as attractive as a hippo. Sex indeed. I'd need to wee halfway through anyway. Oh well, eat curry then. Fuck off.

They do mean well though.

"Have you tried eating pineapple?"
"Apparently you would need to.eat 7-10 pineapples in a sitting"
"Well you obviously don't want him out THAT much"

Die.

Report

I ate one pineapple including the core and I thought my tongue was going to fall off.
