I keep hearing everyone saying i will go through a nesting stage and cleaning frenzy. Defo not happened here yet. Has anyone else been nesting? What have you been doing?

In fact I think I might have been nesting tonight! For me it always takes the form of a bizarre and unnecessary cleaning job.
DC1: got up on a chair and scrubbed the top and sides of the built-in wardrobe in DD's room to-be.
DC2: got out of bed at about 1am, went downstairs and poured bleach all over the utility room, scrubbed utility room.
DC3 (this one): I just spent 45 mins disinfecting and wiping (scrubbing) all DS's books that he looks at in the kitchen. I also spent a weirdly long time washing the cafetiere 
On 1&2, the nesting burst came about two or three days before labour, so hopefully this will be the same. I'm 39 weeks so ready to go!

Ok so the nesting burst seems to come later on. I'm 28 weeks so maybe that'll explain it. I'm normally quite hot with the chores but feel really tired lately so been slacking somewhat. Whilst you're cleaning skirtings Ging fancy popping round and doing mine? 
I'll provide coffee/tea and pneguin biscuits.

Just cleaned my kitchen to an inch of it's life. Smells like a swimming pool downstairs now lol. It was a clean out of necessity than urge though 
I did the hoovering yesterday.

I'm too early for all that nesting yet but I ha e a related question. My oven really needs a good clean but Oven cleaner is pretty potent stuff (have tried normal soap and water to no avail). Anyone know if it's risky to use in pregnancy? I've checked the back (Mr Muscle) and no warning. Kind of hoping DH will have to do it

Oven cleaner is bad at the best of times. I'd avoid using it unless you open windows and vintilate the kitchen well but its surely too cold to open windows, so your other half will have to do it i say

I didn't clean the oven today. Just a wipe over the grill. I do a deep clean of the oven maybe 3 or 4 times a year. It got done before xmas so isn't due another deep clean for a bit yet, not sure if this is deemed as slattenly or not though

Thanks all. Mrs Le Bon it will be first baby so no Muslims in the house yet...I suppose a dish towel might do it but far better to play safe and tell DH it's his job

See my problem is right now i am knackered and feeling happy with myself for having cleaned the kitchen this morning. I have done nothing since. The downstairs loo and the upstairs bathroom both need a good clean but no motivation or energy
My house is already clutter free. I have always hated clutter and am constantly chucking things out or taking stuff to the charity shop.

DH is being over-protected and wont let me use any cleaning products I'm very happy to go along with this, so he does it (kind of).
celeste I'm 28 weeks as well so not really in the nesting phase yet, I'm still in the 'is this actually happening' phase!

It can happen earlier. In both my last pregnancy and this one it hit as soon as the nausea lifted (16 and 12wks respectively). My nesting takes the form of DIY rather than cleaning however. I'm 17wks. Last week I replaced a window sill and put down a new oak floor in the hall, and today I've been out for the threshold strips to finish it off and some paint samples. Just having a spot of lunch before I crack on Last time in the last 5mo of my pregnancy during evenings and weekends I redecorated the living room, built a selection of floating shelves, made and installed a wardrobe, routed draught strips into our doors and put boards down in the loft. Absolutely no compunction to clean skirting boards however! It's crazy given those things had been on a non-urgent 'to do' list for about 3yrs. They suddenly became incredibly important, and my DH thought I had a screw loose.
This time I have set my sights a little higher... We are awaiting planning permission to extend at the moment. I must say I'm getting nervous about getting it finished enough, as I've accepted it's unlikely to be completely done.

Paid for out of what would have been our booze money if I hadn't been pregnant Celeste. I never realised just how much we spent on going out until I got stuck drinking soda and lime for 9 months
