Am i going mad? negative test in bin now showing positive? *CONFUSED*

Hi all, been trying for a baby now for 8 months and it has been trying. I know people try longer but it doesnt make me feel better. I have tried EVERYTHING..... the cutting down on wine, cigs, junk food, dieting, tracking, ovalation sticks, the 'not stressing', having sex every day, every other day, legs up, you name it i have done it. Last 2 months my periods have been late so after getting over excited my periods have come. I try not to talk to people about it as dont want to sound mad & like the crazy women i have become. But again this month i am 2 week late so i took a cheap test, surprise surprise it was a negative. Never mind i thought as usual i will fill my calender up activities i couldnt do if pregnant. However today i went to empty the bin and found the test.... with a sigh i went to put it in the big black bag and as i did there were 2 pink lines!!! I thought nope its me going crazy then i made the mistake of googling (i am like a google addict of tricks and tips and advice) and it said it is possible its a positive. Dont really want to ask anyone and this website has been a great support over the months as i have reading about people in the same boat as me.
Is there any chance i could be? Not getting my hopes but not sure what to think o do so any help would be great xxx

I have no idea but I think you should go and buy a different brand of test. It took us about 7 months and I turned into a crazy ttc bitch. I don't know how people keep going for years - they're stronger than me that's for sure!

If it's out with the timeframe it's more likely to be an evaporation line in afraid.
If you have more tests try another with first morning urine in a couple of days.

If you waited the stated time ie 3 or 5 minutes depending on the. manufacturer and it was negative then it can't be trusted and will be an evap. But if you threw it in the bin before the proper time it could be a bfp. Got a pic?

Oh and 8 months isnt really that long to be ttc. Try and reign it in a bit before it really starts to mess you up.

Not an expert, this thread popped up on the active threads list, but when I've taken pregnancy tests they say to dismiss any results that show after a certain amount of time. So it could be: read your results after two minutes and disregard what the test shows after 15 minutes. Check the packaging of the test you used to be sure of timeframes but I don't think a positive result from a test used a while ago necessarily means anything, sorry.

Similar happened to me BUT my period wasn't due for a couple of days so I was testing early so mine was a very very faint positive that showed up after the normal time. I originally thought it was a negative as couldn't see anything it was only when I went upstairs and looked again I saw the line.

If the second line is a colour I think you stand a chance. If it's grey then it could be an evap. Test again!! 😊😊

Evap line is likely, but I'd do another and wait the full two minutes.

Re evaporation lines I read a report talking about these and the strip that changes colour will only change colour if the specific hormone is present. He explained the fallacy of evaporation lines and the science behind it. Sometimes your levels are very low hence the line not appearing in the time frame but the strip will continue to absorb and so the line may eventually show up. I will try and find it and link to it, twas very interesting.
