Palpitations for over an hour??

Been having palpitations for at least 90 mins now, I'm 16 weeks. I had them on and off in early pregnancy but they calmed down. Now they're back and don't seem to be going away, what should I do?

Call 111. You could be having an arrhythmia. Are you breathless or dizzy with it? Have you felt your pulse- is it very fast?

I'm a little out of breath. They aren't completely constant iyswim, they are every couple of minutes, sometimes every 30 seconds but has been happening since about 10am. Pretty odd.

Seriously- see a doctor. Call your gp surgery to ask for urgent appointment explaining symptoms to receptionist, or call 111. If you are breathless or dizzy go to a&we. You need an ecg no one can diagnose over Internet. Ideally you need to be on a monitor so you have an exg when you are having the palpitations so you scan see what they are.
It is possible it is panic/anxiety but that is a diagnosis of exclusion.
So please follow advice above.

I'm booked in at 4.10 at go's so hopefully they can shed some light on it. They seem to have calmed down slightly but still getting them....

Great. Let me know how you go. They should do an ecg there but as I said you need to be having palpitations when you have the ecg to capture what it is. Good luck

This happened to me too, for over an hour at roughly the same point during my last pregnancy. I was very scared. I didn't go to hospital, but I was told by a doctor on a different occasion that it can be an issue for some during pregnancy. I had a heart scan for unrelated reasons after I had my baby, and there is nothing wrong with my heart. Of course, if you are worried always seek help for peace of mind.

Well the Dr said my pulse was a bit fast but blood pressure and heart sounded ok. He's booked me in for an ecg next week just in case. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about!

I've had this in this pregnancy (currently 24 weeks) and I never had it with dd.

The difference is I've been having a lot of anxiety this time around due to a previous late miscarriage.

I've had an ecg but apparently it just happens to quite a few women when they are pregnant.

Mine usually happens when I'm lying down to go to sleep, all of a sudden I can feel it racing and thundering along. This can last a few hours.

You definitely should get it checked out to be safe but just to reassure that if you have a healthy heart it can still happen! I was told it was due to hormones and extra pressure on the system.

I've had this too. I had an ecg which came back fine and some blood tests- full blood count as well as thyroid function. Doctor reckons this can happen during pregnancy and isn't much to worry about.
