Pregnancy

Exhausted at ten weeks

This has probably been done to death but I feel like absolute crap as I have no energy whatsoever. I'm lucky that I've not been sick but have felt pretty nauseous.

Was supposed to go to the in laws today but I just couldn't physically get myself ready so dh has gone alone and I've not moved off the sofa. Dreading work tomorrow.

Totally underestimated how much pregnancy can take out of you! Anyone else feeling the same?

Yep! Me! Unfortunately I've felt like that pretty much since I found out I was pregnant. And now at 23 weeks it hasn't gone but I think that's mainly due to the fact I have a a toddler to look after, suffer from hyperemesis and not sleeping properly thanks to insomnia and sciatic pain. You have my sympathy! Rest as much as possible! Sod everything!

Yep, it's horrible isn't it?
It might be worth looking into an iron supplement like Spatone in case your levels are low and that is contributing to tiredness.

Right there with you :( 11 weeks today and have spent most of the day on the sofa without any energy to do anything. Usually I love a new year and am really motivated to do lots of cleaning and sorting and tackle stuff at work but I'm dreading going back tomorrow.

My poor DH I think is a bit bewildered to find his normally capabile wife so pathetic :)

Is this your first?

I feel better knowing I'm not alone but feel for you ladies at the same time. I keep thinking to myself, am I exaggerating how I feel in my mind which is ridiculous. My tummy feels constantly gargly too it's horrid!

Yes this is my first April, how about you?

Yes me too beansprout no idea how anyone does it with other little ones too! Hats off to you all!

I'm the same have weird gargling and nausea but not actually being sick. I'm very grateful for that but part of me feels if I was actually sick at least then I wouldn't worry that it's all in my mind - I constantly feel like I'm probably just exaggerating it or being lazy! Or i worry that I'll always feel like this and won't be able to cope with a baby!

Yes I know what you mean. Im looking forward to our first scan so I can tell work and a few more people, it's so hard trying to hide how crap you feel! Have you had a scan yet?

My scan is a week tomorrow. It's such a difficult situation feeling so rough and not being able to tell anyone whereas normally you would just say 'sorry I'm feeling rough etc.' A few weeks ago my colleagues were all running around after my pregnant colleague and I had to do a role that involved climbing lots of stairs - I couldn't just say 'sorry I'm too tired!' Lol. Looking forward to playing the pregnant card when I get there!

When is your scan? Did your in laws know the reason you couldn't visit?

I remember being exhausted up to about 14 weeks, and then felt great to about 6 months, and got tired again after that. It's different for everyone, I think, but just wanted to share so you know you might soon feel better!

Yeah. I had this with all three. It's hell at the best of times but vile with a toddler too. Thankfully in my case it did lift - varied from about 13 to 17 weeks Iirc

Me too! I have a 14 month old complete ball of energy to try and contain too. I'm so, so, so tired and sick - I didn't have this with him! I hope it changes soon as I'm winning no mummy awards at the moment.

Well after heaving my ass out of bed this morning I managed to get through a very stressful day but actually felt more energetic and even managed a ten min light jog to clear my head from work. I think a day on the sofa yesterday did me the world of good!

We have told both sets of parents April would have preferred to have waited till after the scan but we wanted to tell them at xmas. Scan is 2 weeks today. Hope all goes well with yours next week!!

Went to work today, it was alright for the first two hours and then after that I just felt miserable (I think when my body figured out we weren't going back to bed). Spent most the drive home trying to resist buying McDonald's chips - have compromised with oven chips at home. How was your first day back beansprout

I've felt like this too today. Eugh! Literally haven't moved from the sofa, had no motivation. I've avoided socialising! The thought of stepping out of the house after 7pm Shock April, my scan is a week tomorrow too. Hope you're ok!

mascara gone are the days of wishing for symptoms hey? Hope your scan goes well, how are you feeling about it? I'm terrified!

Has anyone taken any sick days for early pg? I'm lying in bed feeling awful and dreading the thought of going in but don't want to give in and take the day off as I know I'll regret it or feel guilty

In seriously considering calling in sick today. I feel so nauseous and light headed, but have too much to do. I'm contemplating telling my line manager early but she might have to report it up the chain and I don't want everyone knowing yet, I'm only about 8-9 weeks.

Hope you all feel better soon.

11+6 here and pretty wiped out!

I spent Sunday in bed as I just felt disgusting frankly and so sick/nauseous. Lovely DH went out and got me some travel bands which I've been wearing for a day and a half. Scarily, the worst of the nausea is all but gone (but not the tiredness).

I'm banking on a magic 12 week milestone, where I will suddenly feel ok again and be able to function like a normal adult again for a bit....

To those of you wanting to call in sick, go for it. Growing a baby is hard work! I'm a teacher and have only worked 4 weeks since September...was signed off with hyperemesis for 9 weeks and then off another 2 and a half for bleeding. I'm now 23 weeks and feel like shit. On my way back to work after being signed off for bleeding for the first time today. Pregnancy related sickness cannot be held against your normal absence records.

As weird as this will be to hear. Enjoy this pregnancy if it's your first. I am exhausted and sick but with a toddler there are no sick days or days in bed. It was far easier being pregnant when I had a 2 hour (each way) commute and then a stressful job in the city I can tell you!

mascaraisamust · 05/01/2016 09:28

April, my symptoms are near gone apart from exhaustion and thirst! Literally gasping for a drink when I wake up. 10 weeks was the worst for nausea for me. This week it appears to have gone again and lethargy has kicked in. Feeling a tad better today.

Lucky, you are so right. This is #1 for me.

Reebok, hope you are feeling better now. Sounds like you've had it rough!

Mermaid and newness, I'm hoping to feel like a normal adult with energy again soon too. I must look a mess!

I felt utterly exhausted until about 12 weeks but then it lifted and I felt much better. Still tired, but not to the point of hallucinating in meetings anymore! Just tackling the ridiculous shortness of breath now.

With you on this. Coming up to 9 weeks and exhausted and nauseous all the time. Don't know how you ladies with children already do this! I'm normally someone who is always on the go but now could sleep the world away and at my desk at work I'm like a zombie. I'm trying not to complain to husband as this pregnancy was a long time coming! Zzzzzz

mascaraisamust · 05/01/2016 13:28

I've removed myself from the house and forced myself to go out and eat some lunch ( in the hope of me not cooking it I'll feel a bit better). So far, so good!

I bought anti nausea wrist bands from the chemist today... Have to say it's helped a bit!
