How to cope with morning sickness

I'm 11wks 3days pregnant and for the past 4-5wks my morning sickness has been pretty much constant.

On a good day, I'm sick at least two times and have constant nausea...on bad days I am sick up to 10 times. On most days, I am able to keep down at least one small meal and water so Doctor has said that there is no need to see me (you have to have a telephone consultation with them in order to get an actual appointment).

In the last 4wks, I have lost over half a stone and, over the last couple of days, I have started to get really dizzy and pass out.

Has anyone got any tips for types of food to eat (at the moment, I am struggling with even dry toast/pasta/rice/etc) to try and stop nausea? I'm due back at work next week after a few weeks annual leave and am worried about being sick/passing out at work.

I am living on foxes glacier mints on my bad days. I felt better for a few days this week but back to feeling like ass now.
Boiled sweets are great as they keep up your saliva production and make sure you never have a dry mouth and this can alleviate some nausea.

Please go back and see another doctor. You dont have to suffer like this. I'm pg with DC#3 and I'm back on the anti nausea/sickness tablets. You shouldn't be losing weight and passing out is dangerous. Your doc is being an arse.

Hope you fell better soon Flowers

If your losing weight and vomitinf that frequently you need properly monitored - GP or mw needs to be looking for ketones in your pee. There are a range of anti sickness drugs available now. Some GPs are a bit shit and unhelpful but stand your ground. The website "pregnancy sickness support" has an excellent section on medications.

For my first pregnancy my GP was v unsympathetic and actually said 'pregnant women get sick - what did you expect?'. I was being sick up to 10 times a day from weeks 4-40. My hair fell out, my teeth crumbled and I retched so hard I tore my throat and threw up blood Sad. I'm not sure what I would have had to do get some treatment! This time my GP was female and horrified at my condition, to her being sick more than 3 times a day is excessive and requiring treatment. She gave me Stemitil which while it did not cure me has got me through. I'm now approaching 39 weeks and while I'm still sick 2-3 times a day this is tolerable to me and I've managed to maintain my pre-preg weight. As for what you should eat, anything you want, anytime you want to! I have found different things have worked for me at different times. Lived on milkshake and monster munch for DS1buy only because they weren't painful to throw up. Go back to your GP, you needn't suffer so much.

I find drinking loads really helps, the moment I am the smallest bit dehydrated the nausea goes up massively. Also, eating little and often - just whatever you can face - even if it's not that nutritious. I lived off bread, crisps and chips for the first 14 weeks of my first pregnancy, and I'm normally really healthy and love my veggies. Thankfully not as sick this time round, though still constantly nauseous. Hope you feel better soon.
