What can I eat

Last night we came home to be told one of our cats had been hit by a car and hadn't survived. I know this will seem small to a lot of people but we are totally devastated.
I don't do well in situations like this and I am struggling to eat even a yogurt. I know that this is very early from when I last ate but I know my body will get sick at the thought of food for for a while. What can I eat that will get the calories & nutrition in for the baby that will be easy to swallow? I'm nearing 30 weeks.

Just trying to stay calm for the baby at the moment!

High calorie snack foods like nuts and cereal bars. Keep your fruit and veg up too.

I totally understand and am sorry about your cat; I'd be devastated too! :( I've taken days off work when I've lost my pets and have not been able to eat either. Luckily not while I've been pregnant, but I do understand and sympathise.

Despite your body telling you that nothing sounds good, try to get some supplemental drinks in at the minimum. If you can stomach a yogurt, go for a Greek yogurt that is high in protein and as many fruits/veg as you can manage. Almonds, banana...whatever you can manage but try to make every calorie count and have maximum impact.

Aww, you poor thing. I go into starvation mode when I'm heartbroken too. I couldn't eat for days after my brother's cat died - if I lost one of my own I don't think I'd be able to get food down for weeks. Try milkshakes or smoothies, as they'll have the calories plus some protein and other nutrition in them. Babies are pretty hardy so as long as you start getting proper nutrition again as soon as you're able I'm sure everything will be fine.

Thank you for your ideas. I have managed a cereal bar and 2 frubes so far. Going to try a satsuma in a minute I think.
I'm so sad right now and keep crying. I didn't sleep well last night so I don't think this is helping the crying situation.

I'm really sorry about your cat. I'd be the same- they are members of the family.
Mild cheddar on toast, fruited bread/toast, porridge, cereal, mini cheddars, tinned soup, biscuits/cereal bars, jacket potato- pretty much anything beige is what I tend to eat if I'm struggling. I hope you feel better soon- one day at a time Flowers
