I have a milk allergy when I am pregnant - it gives me a pounding headache, and then makes me very sick... by cutting it out of my diet I changed to vaguely queasy. It doesn't work for a lot of people, but could be worth a try (or looking at the rest of your diet for other triggers).

Nux Vom homeopathic pills and ginger then helped ease the queasy feeling.

Definitely normal Gorgeous - I'm 9 weeks pg and have been sick almost since conception (mind you this is my fourth). Some people just are I'm afraid! I had a thread running a few weeks ago where lots of people contributed their "cures" - I'll see if I can find it and do a link - hold on ...

Me too - good job I'm not trying to hold down a job! . I was doing some casual work at my library but have had to give up as I am spending more time either lying down or throwing up than doing anything else - finding it hard to leave the house at the moment! So you have my heartfelt sympathy, it's awful isn't it!

My morning sickness made me miserable! It was awful and everyone i spoke to about it said they never experienced it - not what i wanted to hear at the time!!
It's totally normal, i went through stages of eating lots cause i was so sick and worried about baby, to just giving up eating full stop - and was still terribly sick. Lose - lose situation. I didn't really find anything that helped it, tried loads of stuff but faced facts that if it was gonna happen i couldn't stop it! Two things that helped slightly: eating cereal with milk before going to bed (milk lines tummy) and keeping cream crackers next to the bed so in the morning before getting up i ate a few and this settled me for.....all of 5 seconds!
I felt rotten until i was about 11-12 weeks, now at nearly 17 weeks am fine - though do sometimes get the odd sickness feeling! It should pass as you near your second trimester, until then - you have my sypathy!

Not sure if its mentioned in the other thread but I used the travel sickness wristbands (you can buy them in Boots).

You have to wear them for at least a day before you notice any effect, and you need to wear them pretty much all the time, but were VERY effective and were the only thing that worked for me.

I can also recommend travel sickness wristbands - it certainly takes the edge off the worst of it, even if not entirely a cure.

I was feeling sick all day every day until 20 weeks although only actually vomitting occasionally in the mornings. Therefore I sympathise enormously.

I can also vouch for breakfast cereal with milk (also seems reasonably nutritious, which was comforting, as I was worried at how little I was actually eating) and also plain yogurt with some fruit compote (Yeo Valley - yummy) I also found eating and drinking at the same time a big mistake, made me feel really sick.

The only thing I can say to comfort is, you will feel like 3 times the woman when the sickness passes! and then it is such a treat to get back to your old favourite foods.

this is kinda an odd one but really helped... sniff Vicks Vapour rub. i found the smell eased my sickness. with this preg (my second) i found smelling fresh lemons helped to. all in all smells seem to help for me. it was also the wrong smells that seemed to trigger it too.. ie DS nappy, curry, and strangly bread.

ginger i found was crap, both times, everyone is different, u just need to find something to work for you.

good luck hun, it WILL ease off, ive just come out the other side (16 weeks) and really feel for you ::hugs::

I am 16 wks pg and still being sick most evenings. However, I feel much better than I did between 6 and 13 weeks when I couldn't eat and was sick most of the day. I'm afraid to say that nothing helped for me!

I have totally gone off fruit and veg and am eating very little. Mainly cereal and bread and drinking mint tea. Is this a harm to the baby?

Report
lulumama · 22/12/2006 18:36

won;t harm the baby..the baby will take all it needs from you..so whatever you eat and drink, the baby will use, et as and when, and whatever you feel like x

search on the internet for 'blooming awful', it'll link you to a site for Hyperemesis. Now you don't have hyperemesis so don't think I am suggesting that, but sued to work (volunteer) for them and they have a self help page that work for ALL nausea ion pregnancy. REALLY worth a go, I promise!
