Missed miscarriage - warning signs?

novemberchild · 29/11/2015 01:01

I'm currently waiting for another scan on Wednesday as apparently my dates seem a bit out and my baby is smaller than expected.

I'm worried as I am in my late 30s (last baby dc2 was born when
I was 24) and afraid of a missed miscarriage. I have been under a lot of marriage-related stress, particularly a couple of weeks ago.

I have felt very well in myself, still have all symptoms, sore chest, tired, cravings, white discharge (tmi sorry). Though
I have felt mildly nauseous at times have not been vomiting all the time like with dc2.

If anyone has ever had a mmc, did you have any hint at all? I am getting quite stressed waiting.

So sorry your going through this op.

I had a MMC nearly 3 years ago. The only thing i felt was a slight rexuction in my pregnancy symptons but i was 12 weeks so thst wasn't that surprising.

I went for my 12 week scan & was told there was no heart beat & the baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks.

Incredibly difficult time.

I really hope everything works out for you.Flowers

I've had 3 x mcs including 1 missed miscarriage. For the mmc I had absolutely no signs and went in to the scan room happily expecting to see my baby. Especially as we'd seen it and the heartbeat two weeks earlier, but the baby had died a few days earlier.

The thing about a mmc is that your body thinks you are still pregnant so you still get symptoms .

You still have symptoms, so that is a good sign but I wouldn't really anything in to how sick you feel or don't feel you'll only worry yourself to death.

Good luck

I'm so sorry you are having to go though this. I remember that week between scans it was the longest week ever and so so hard. Flowers

I had a mmc at 8 weeks, the baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks. I had an early scan as I'd had some cramps and they wanted to rule out ectopic. I don't think the cramps were related to the mmc though because I also had similar pains when I was subsequently pregnant with my DS.

All my pregnancy symptoms remained though, right up until after I had the medical management for the mc.

I had a MMC and had horrendous nausea for 4 weeks after the baby had stopped growing, so I don't think how sick or well you feel makes much difference, I only found out when I started bleeding at 13 weeks and then a scan same day. If you can afford it and you are majorly stressed you could see if you can get a private early scan today \Monday, Babybond are very good. I have my fingers crossed for you. I had a 8 week scan with them after the MMC because I didn't have a good experience with the NHS sonographer when I was told the baby had stopped growing (good experiences at other scans though), it might help to have more time with the sonographer than you get on the NHS. Or, if that might complicate things I recommend ringing the miscarriage association helpline, they are brilliant. Everyone is different but at times like this try and distract myself with TV and comfort food.

I feel your pain in the scan wait it's such a hard time. I started spotting when I was 8 weeks, a private scan showed a 5 week sac and I was told my dates were out. 3 weeks and 3 NHS scans later I was told I had a MMC. I had sickness all the way through even though the baby had died at 5 weeks and I didn't get an erpc until week 12 I was still being sick then. It's such a hard time having that wait so I know nothing I say will help as it didn't me. I think all along I knew something was wrong with the pregnancy even before the spotting started

I did have a slight reduction in my symptoms but it was around the time that this would have been considered normal, so no clue and a devastating scan at 12 weeks.

Everything crossed you get a good result with your rescan xx

I had a reduction in symptoms, well in fact they pretty much disappeared after I had a day of diarrhoea and feeling really ill which was the day the baby had died, but I didn't discover that until the scan 2 weeks later

I'm sorry you are having this worry. I've had two mmc's - with one pregnancy symptoms disappeared ( with hindsight) but the second they continued. If you do get bad news please don't blame the stress - you won't have done anything wrong. But I hope you get good news.

I hope it is good news. Even after everything that happened, I was still happy about the baby, even if it meant I'd be getting divorced.

I feel terrible about the stress, though, and all the cigarettes I smoked before I knew, when I found out about my husband's cheating.

Novemberchild it sounds like you've had a really difficult time, finding out husband has been cheating is devastating! Keep strong, are you speaking to anyone about it?

Yes - thanks :)

We're still together, having marriage counselling sessions and it seems to be improving, there were some problems which I am rather relieved to be dealing with.

It has been rough. Very rough, and strange to have found out I was pregnant right at that time. Never mind, though. I just want good news.

You poor thing.
I had a mmc and horribly it had died 5 weeks before I found out, there were no symptoms as such although I did not have strong symptoms in the first place. The first sign was blood when I wiped, had a scan and found out.

I had a mmc detected at my 20 week scan. In hindsight I think the clue was that I had been really sick and totally exhausted all the way through and suddenly woke up at 19 weeks and felt fine. I thought it was the much awaited 2nd trimester bloom and was so relieved at the time, but later wondered if that was when she died.

Without a window into your stomach it's impossible to know, and the not knowing is really hard. I feel for you OP, fingers crossed it's good news.

I was unwell. Can't really pinpoint exactly what it was I was feeling other than a general unwell-ness.

As it was a first pregnancy I assumed it was normal but realised how far wrong I was when I fell pregnant with DD.

Found out at my 12 weeks scan the baby hadn't developed past 6 weeks. I'm sorry you're going through this. It's very difficult.

Well, an update! My baby is still 'small for dates' by a couple of weeks, but between today's scan and last week's, has grown 'as would be expected', which has made me feel a bit better.

I wonder if the delayed growth could actually have been smoking and serious stress. I am less stressed now, and have of course stopped smoking, so I am hoping the baby will be able to catch up a bit.

They are having another look in two weeks when they say they will be able to know a lot more. So still nervous but feeling a bit better about it overall.

I had a missed miscarriage last month, I sometimes struggle as I just turned 41 and me and my boyfriend really wanted this baby. I had no symptoms at all, I went for my 12 week scan and the doctor said my baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks. He said wait about a month and try again...good luck everyone xx
