'bleeding' at 7+2

Hi Ladies

I woke up today to find some (not loads) of brown old looking blood which has continued spotting through this morning. I've also got a bit of stomach cramp - but don't know if I'm imagining that or if it's because I'm anxious; my stomach is generally very sensitive to my emotions - and more worryingly my boobs seem to have suddenly gone back to almost normal, after 2 weeks of feeling like a couple of super tender canon balls.

I also had a bit of similar bleeding at 5 weeks but I think it's the absence of boob pain that is worrying me more this time.

Has anyone had a similar situation and been ok?

Sad

I had bleeding at 9 and 10 weeks and am now 25 weeks - brown blood is always better than red blood so do try and stay positive - I would suggest ringing your local early pregnancy unit and speaking to a nurse there - they may want you to come in for a check up or book you in for an early scan.

I've had bleeding like that with both a previous miscarriage and with this pregnancy (currently 29 weeks). I didn't notice any difference in my boobs at all when I started to miscarry but noticed it come and go this time round, as did cramps.

The first time I called my doctor and they said my hospital's EPU is a walk in so just to go there, so I just went straight there with this pregnancy. As cth says, I would give them a ring and they can let you know if you need to come in and if you need a referral.

I know it doesn't help to be told not to worry but bleeding like this is very common, however, there is no harm in calling the EPU.

Thank you Ladies. We're not NHS where we live so it's a slightly different situation, but I'll call them when I get home and see what they say.

No particular difference today, if anything it's worse. I called the hospital & they advised me to go to a&e who will send me straight through, presumably for a scan to confirm what I think I already know. DH finishes work at 3 so I'm going to wait until then so he can come with me Sad.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you October - I had a bit of uterus come away at 9 weeks which looked a lot worse than it was - hopefully it is just a little bleed big hugs

Take it easy, October. They will probably do an internal scan and also measure your HGC levels so may take some blood.

Fingers crossed for you.

As someone else has already mentioned, brown blood is much better than red blood. Usually means old blood and there could be loads of reasons! The only thing you can do is trying to have a scan to check situation but the blood itself doesn't have bad meaning. I had similar situation from week 6 to week 10... All is good now! Fingers crossed for you anyway!

Thanks everyone. We went to A&E and they persuaded Maternity to take me for an immediate scan (I got the gist that they wouldn't have if it wasn't my first pregnancy).

I had an internal which showed that either a) I'm a couple of weeks behind the date I should be based on last AF or b) the pregnancy stopped developing a couple of weeks ago. The sac & embryo are there, but smaller than they should be at 7 weeks and no heartbeat showing.

They've booked me in for another scan a week Friday, which will give me the definitive answer. What with the bleeding, including a pretty gross clot this afternoon (still brown though?!) and the reduction in symptoms I'm trying not to hold out too much hope.

I'm sorry the scan results weren't more optimistic, October. I had the same type of scan results with a brown bleed and I started to miscarry a week later. However, I've also had a brown bleed with my live birth pregnancy, and know people who've had small-for-date scans and the pregnancy continued to a live birth.

Sorry you're going through this.

Much like Sandy, I've had two experiences of this, one with a happy outcome and one with a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for you OP.
