Congratulations Flowers
You need to make a booking appointment with a midwife for between 6-10 weeks. This appointment will last about 1hr. Weeks are measured from your last period (there are due date calculators online to make the week calculations easier)

You're actually 3-4 weeks pregnant at the CB tests tell you when you conceived, which on a 'normal' length cycle is approximately 2 weeks after your last period. You need to could from the day of your last period.

Flowers congratulations!

Thank you ladies according to due dat calculator I am due 10th may 2016. I am a little scared to go to the doctor just yet as a friend of mine says they may not be able to detect it as clear blue is sensitive. Is that true? I tried a test that was blue lines and only very faint ones came up, also do you know weather very dull period pains is normal?

I had a very faint positive. I went to my dr the day after as I was on medication so needed to discuss that otherwise she just told me to do the midwife thing between 6-10 weeks (this is for UK is that where you are?)
I have had very dull pains. Apparently it's normal as its your womb stretching. I haven't had any bleeding and the pain has been so minimal that I haven't been concerned at all by it. I would say worth asking midwife if your worried

Forgot to put that if you take a another test in 1 week then the line should be clearer

You don't need to go to the dr they don't do a pregnancy test anyway. Just find out how to see a midwife in about 4 weeks time

Clear blue digital is sensitive to 25 mmol, you can get pregnancy tests that are sensitive as low as 10mmol.

You don't need to go to your GP to have the pregnancy confirmed - no one confirmed mine, I went to my first scan thinking I may find I'm not pregnant!

Ring your GP surgery and ask if you can book directly with the midwife or if you need to see a GP first, it varies from area to area.

Start taking folic acid and a vitamin which doesn't have vitamin A in it. You don't need fancy pregnacare ones - most supermarkets have an on brand variety. If you have a super healthy diet then folic acid and vit D are the only ones you need to top up on.

Congratulations.

I shall ring the doctors to find out about the midwife after work tomorrow. When did you all tell work about your pregnancy? Sorry to ask so many questions I guess I should be more "clued up" than this.

Also is a scan booked for straight away or is it a certain amount of weeks?

I still cannot believe it :)

Thank you ladies x Grin Flowers

Scan is booked by your midwife after your booking appointment.
I haven't told work yet as I haven't had my first scan. I will tell them after. Your work however can't take your pregnancy into consideration unless they know about it so not sure how easy it is for you to go to booking appointment and scan? If you get bad morning sickness then it may be worth telling them. Luckily I could hide my sickness as it hasn't been too bad.

Hello congratulations :)

Every Dr's is different, mine didn't confirm pregnancy just took my word for it! Which I found really odd.

Let the Dr know and they will either pass your information on to the midwives and the hospital will contact you with regards to booking in appointment (after my booking in appointment, I booked in a scan) or they will give you the number of the midwives for yourself to contact. These are the only two ways which I am aware of. Of course this may vary!

My sickness is on and off one day will be good next I don't want to eat much, I'll wait until my first scan to tell them I think I don't want to be treated differently. It's just I work as a carer so the rules are different I won't be able to work with some of my patients anymore due to infection and disease control. I will book midwife tomorrow and hope to get an appointment soon. Should I avoid anything in particular?

Sorry forgot to say yes I am in the UK.

There are certain foods you should avoid. A quick Google will be better than listing them here. Also if you have a cat you shouldn't be dealing with their waste. Also there are illnesses you have to avoid such as chickenpox. I have an app on my phone which is great for baby progress its called pregnancy+.
I have found waiting round for my scan to tell people really hard as the longer your pregnant (and talking about it to those who know) the more I seem to nearly drop myself in it. My scan is on Thursday so not much longer until I can finally shout it
