Anyone else 40wks plus & PISSED OFF?

I never thought I'd reach this stage.
I'm absolutely shitting myself re: labour so thought I'd be happy that it seems to be taking as long as possible. But NOOOOOOO.

I am 40+6 today and I have had enough. Have tried raspberry leaf, OJ, spicy food, walking, bouncing/sitting on ball, nipple stimulation Blush and everything else that's been recommended, and I've not even had a single Braxton Hick. No twinges, nothing. Junior is still squirming up high against my rib cage, despite being 3/5 engaged and in a 'good position' (according to the midwife). It's like he's too comfy in there and doesn't want to come out!

I'm booked for a sweep on Tues- which I was hoping to avoid- and then induction on Friday if that doesn't work (it won't). I can just visualise myself having to spend the whole of next weekend in hospital on a fucking drip before having to have a C-section because the little (not!) bugger still won't come out of his own accord.

I was expecting to have felt something by now! Has anyone else gone into labour with absolutely no prior indication/symptoms? Please give me some hope!!

Have you tried castor oil?

Me me me! I'm 41 weeks today. Had a sweep yesterday and MW said she reckoned I would have baby this weekend. Some BH and pressure last night and I thought this is it! But then this morning - nowt! Am moping round the house today as a result. Have another sweep booked for Monday but really want to avoid induction. So annoying as this is my second and my first was only 5 days over.

Impatientwino · 15/08/2015 15:27

Firstly you have my hugest sympathies. Secondly, don't try castor oil. It will make you incredibly ill.

Labour occurs when a shift in your hormones causes it to, I hope that's soon for you and you avoid sweep/induction.

Thank- I've given the castor oil a wide berth tbh as I've read it can have negative effects. I spent 30 mins vigorously pumping up my car tires with a foot pump earlier in the hope it might kick things off...nope. So went for a hike to Waitrose...still nothing (praying that my waters will break in Waitrose so I get free stuff! Grin)

Good luck justabigdisco! How was your sweep? Never had one before and have heard mixed things...

Me too! 41+2 here, had a sweep yesterday and thought things might be happening last night but no, today nothing! Was induced last time at 12 days over on a Tuesday, and it feels like déjà vu! Have a scan Monday then will get booked in for eviction, probably Tuesday...
Keep walking and bouncing!

Am 40 weeks today! Have been for a long walk earlier. Eek!

Me! 40+4 and this is baby 4. Never made my due date with the others so this is becoming ridiculous. Pains for 3 weeks and have had show etc but sweet fa happening other than irregular contractions and the odd day of constant period type pain. I've had 2 sweeps already, another one on Monday, then Thursday, and if they fail as well then induction a week tomorrow :-( my calm home birth plans are threatening to disappear. Walking and swimming are achieving nothing. So no advice but share the frustration.

Ha ha, Flossycat..."eviction". I like that. He definitely feels like a squatter at the moment!

I'm going to make lunch/cinema plans for next week, that'll virtually guarantee that he shows up...

I'm 40+1 today and could have written your post.

No twinges for me, no show or anything.

Been for a walk, curry for tea tonight then some bouncing on my ball. Come on little one!

Report
Skeppers · 15/08/2015 18:24

We're going to curry tomorrow I think.
I can't even justify calling mine 'little one'...he's on track to be a solid ten pounder!! (It's fine, I'm nearly 6ft and built like a brick shitehouse myself...)

I'm also built like a brick shit house but midwife reckons I will have a neat little baby and I'm clinging on to that hope!

I think they tell us what we need to hear! I keep getting the "big babies are easier to deliver" line... Shock

Do read up on it, and ask your MW, but clary sage is supposed to be very potent, so I understand.

Good luck Smile

Sweep was fine skeppers. Uncomfortable yes, and the MW and I both had a sweat on by the end (my cervix was v far back and she was determined to reach it!) but tolerable. Really thought it was going to work last night. She did say it takes 24-48 hours before you can say whether it's worked or not, but I've had nothing at all today. Not a niggle.

Agree that making plans is the best idea. I might book some expensive, non refundable tickets for something for Monday.

If it makes you feel better, I just had an 11lb 2oz baby with the smallest of internal tears, and was fine after a week. So it may be true!

Report
justabigdisco · 15/08/2015 19:02

Oh and I know 2 women who were due after me who have both delivered. That does NOT help.

How is everyone doing this morning? I've woken up with nothing again today..

Report
Skeppers · 16/08/2015 09:33

Likewise! Had a couple of tummy cramps in the night, but just needed a poo... Blush

Just had my weekly notification through from my BabyCentre app (am 41 weeks exactly today) saying 'Congratulations on your newborn!'...um, yeah, thanks. WHERE THE HELL IS HE THEN!? Angry

Haha! Just designed to wind us up, surely? Also had some pressure just now but like you, it was just a poo. Still, active bowels can be a sign of early labour can't they? Can't they??!

Is this your first baby?

Report
Skeppers · 16/08/2015 12:00

Yup! First and only! Grin Think that makes it trickier because you don't know what you should be feeling, iyswim? You have to rely on other people's personal, anecdotal experience. For example, people ask me if I've had Braxton Hicks and a couple of the women at my NCT group were saying how they'd been having them, and I said "well, I don't know, what do they feel like?" and they both have very different answers! One said that it was just like a tightening across the bump (which I have had) and the other said that she found them very painful and uncomfortable (which I haven't)...so I still don't know whether I have or not! Confused

We went out for coffee this morning and in the car on the way home (about 11.30) I had a definite tummy twinge but, as I'd just chugged a large caramel macchiato, I'm guessing it's probably just the precursor to another dump...caffeine does that to me.

Is this your first?

No, my second. Went into labour at 40+4 last time and she was born on morning of 40+5. My BH are like tightenings across whole bump - can feel and see the bump changing - but are definitely uncomfortable and have been for some time.

Went out for long walk today and am knackered as a result but still nothing happening! Booked in for another sweep tomorrow. Have you got one booked?

Yep, sweep booked for Tuesday and they're going to book an induction for Friday at the same time in case that doesn't work.

My bump is always tightening/changing but just assumed it was Junior rocking around in there. He's VERY active!

Well done on the walk. I'm up for a long haul along the seafront on Tuesday, might try and drag my ass out for a mooch tomorrow too.

Fingers crossed for your sweep (or not as the case may be!) Grin
